Uncle Buck (1989) Husband's First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Uncle Buck (1989) Husband's First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Comments

Great reaction you guys!!! Uncle Buck has been our family movie since it came out in 1989 when we were kids! We can all recite the whole movie and just love it so much! Anyone marrying into, or that is born into our family has to learn, and love this movie, too! So many hysterical one-liners... this movie will never get old!!! Jean Louisa Kelly, who plays Tia, did such a great job! She went on to star in Mr. Holland's Opus (INCREDIBLE MOVIE) and most recently played Sarah Kazansky, Ice Man's wife, in Top Gun: Maverick!

Prime in Canada doesn't have this (for free) so I had to journey into the darkest depths of my basement and dig out a storage bin with all my old DVDs. I hadn't seen this in at least 10 years so it was worth it. :)

The Great Outdoors next please

As a Canadian, John Candy was truly a national treasure who is still regarded as one of our best exports. He had a larger than life presence both off and on camera, and could make you laugh and cry with the best of them. He sadly passed away in his sleep while on set of the movie "Wagons East", at the young age of 43. Unlike most Canadian celebrities who made it in Hollywood, he never left his Canadian roots. He divided his time between LA (for work) and his ranch in Queensville, Ontario, which is an hour north of Toronto (his hometown). It was actually quite common to run into him at the local convenience store and talk to him as if he was a long lost friend. He made time for every one of his fans and was an extremely humble guy. The man had no ego. In 2020, Toronto proclaimed October 30th, John Candy Day to honour him on his birthday. He even had a limited edition postage stamp that circulated in Canada. Ryan Reynolds and Colin Hanks are both currently working on his documentary that will be released on Netflix sometime in 2023. He was a once in a lifetime talent that is still missed to this day. RIP John :(

"Uncle Buck" was 1989 and "Home Alone" was 1990. I don't know what happened, but I love Macaulay Culkin in this movie, and really, really don't like him in the "Home Alone" movies. He is much more naturalistic in this one. Maybe somebody "taught" him how to act like a movie kid for the "Home Alone" movies.

I love the subtle joke when he says that he told Shanice he loved her, and it wasn't for tires... it was for shocks. Because it's obvious the last time he got shocks was many years ago. :D

My friend and I are always doing the one sided phone call at work when someone is upset. Would you just... yeah but... I just... yeah but... :D

Vwlss Nvwls

HAHAHA!!! Love the intro!!! This is one of my go to fun time movies. I remember trying to get my friend to see it in the theater, after I had seen it, and he was reluctant because we were both in our mid 20s and he figured John Hughs was only for teenagers. When the scene where Buck breaks the plate thinking it was unbreakable, my friend was hooked. :D

Vwlss Nvwls

I love how you switched up the intro! Very cute :)

Hughes' last film as director after this was Curly Sue. It bombed but I actually quite like it; if you're a Hughes fan it's definitely worth a look. It's amazing that he only directed eight films. Eight! As for Candy, the best ones you haven't seen are probably Cool Runnings, Only the Lonely and Who's Harry Crumb?

Odd Thomas

That ending gets me every time. It's like he's saying goodbye to us, too. Another one of my favorite movies John Candy was in is called "Cool Runnings", a fictionalized telling of the 1988 Jamaican Bobsled team in the Winter Olympics. I think you both would love this movie as well!

Perfect !! You will love it ;)

Summer Rental is just about my favourite John Candy movie, just love the feel of the entire movie

Duncan

Love this movie and great reaction!! I knew Daniel would really connect with Buck on his methods of how to deal with teenagers. LOL

Brent

Good to know 'Uncle Buck' is still a really good comedy. I don't have kids, but taking care of those kids seems easy aside from Tia who had the worst case of teenager ever. I mean, they were all old enough to do all the gross stuff themselves and have a good sense of self preservation lol.

Jeffrey Miller

Yeah!! Love Uncle Buck!!! One of John Candy's Best Performances!! A Great Comedy Movie for Christmas is "Trading Places" from 1983 with Eddie Murphy, Dan Aykroid and Jamie Lee Curtis !!

Florian Meier

John Candy makes every movies he is in better. Comedic Genius! Besides Great Outdoors, maybe you should consider Who's Harry Crumb?, Splash, Volunteers, Summer Rental and Canadian Bacon.

Yann Laliberté

Daniel "Hello" 👋 Sam to Daniel "what do you know about this film" 😄 it's been a while since one of these reverse intros

Duncan

Yep, I'm excited for both so this is cool with me. Maybe young guns tomorrow?

Jen Barnes

Sam doing the intro gets me every time! 🤣 It’s just such a joy!

Mike Ramirez

Wasn't Young Guns on this week's schedule or am I going crazy?

Donna Castellano

Best John Candy movie ever...IMO 🤘 Love the role reversal, btw ☺️
