Yesterday I saw a tv show called “when they see us” on Netflix. It talks about a real fact happened in New York in 1989 when a jogger was raped and a group of black guys were innocently accused by the police.
I spent all the night thinking about what I’d seen, thinking about how much cruel human beings can be.
The most touching scene has been the picture you’re seeing now. One of the guy, the youngest, he was only fourteen years old, played trumpet and no yell or no slap can be more painful than clipping somebody’s wings and destroying his dreams.
I’m European and I’m white, and even if I’m gay I’ve never been gone through bullying, except some little episodes at middle school, which means from sixth grade to eighth grade.
I’m fortunate and privileged and the show makes me reflect a lot about it.
I don’t know if some of my patrons are black, but all my support goes to the black community all around the world and I hope world could change soon because racism is still a thing in 2021 and this can’t be accepted anymore.
