Added 2022-04-07 22:00:01 +0000 UTCFightful Select spoke to Big Damo ahead of his NJPW appearance in LA at Mutiny.
Damo, the former Killian Dain, told Fightful that he always thought New Japan Pro Wrestling would be a good place for him to work considering his background with RevPro and ICW. He reiterated to us that he's a freelancer as of right now, and was very fortunate that he started his visa process before his WWE release, so it didn't hit him as hard whenever it actually happened.
Damo sees NJPW as an opportunity to prove himself, and says NJPW Strong has developed into a super indie that has wrestlers from all kinds of companies involved. Rocky Romero is who made the connection to bring him in, as is tradition.
Drake Maverick was spoken highly of from a creative aspect, and Damo was very happy that he ended up back in the company to work in creative.
We also asked him how far ahead he learned of his WWE call-up, which he noted was about a week ahead. However, he only learned about the split from Sanity a few days before. He says the ability to pick Eric Young's brain is something he'll always look upon fondly.
Also, Damo once saw Vince McMahon play hide and seek with Alexander Wolfe. Regarding his interactions with Kevin Dunn, he said he didn't have many besides him wanting the emotion in Damo's eyes changed a bit.
