Weekly Cody Rhodes update

There's a lot of rumors running around about Cody Rhodes' current status, and he's well aware of it.

Last week, Bodyslam reported that talks between WWE and Cody Rhodes had "fizzled out." I should note that people close to Cody and his team had been downplaying him going literally anywhere for weeks, but we took that as just playing coy. Around the time Cesaro leaving WWE, they seemed keen on the profile of the situation being lowered, but general interest remained from the public.

On Saturday, we reached out to Cody Rhodes, who hasn't offered up much insight or detail as to what's going on, saying "I logged on earlier and saw some wild stuff - these are mad times." When we asked him to elaborate, he sent us a picture of his dogs. In case you were wondering, they weren't wearing collars. Mad times, indeed.

Fightful asked around about what those in WWE had heard about Cody Rhodes. Most talent were never specifically told he was coming in to the company, but there had been plenty of chatter and pitches regarding Rhodes and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania. Of late, we've heard from the creative end that is "uncertain." However, as recently as Saturday that listed Austin Theory as "TBD" and kayfabed the locker room and staff that he'd be facing Brock Lesnar at MSG, so it's quite possible. 

One source within WWE said that "nothing had changed" as far as they know.

At AEW Revolution weekend, we heard from several AEW stars who were of the belief that the deal was off and Cody wasn't going to WWE, but that was purely from a speculation standpoint. When we would ask if anyone there had any concrete information, they didn't. Cody's manager Brian Wittenstein was in Orlando for AEW Revolution, and we got several people contacting us about it, but he has other clients in AEW and isn't indicative of anything else.

We were told that there would be "something worth looking out for" on Cody's future in the Hollywood trades (meaning Variety, Deadline, etc), but weren't given any information if it was about wrestling or Rhodes to the Top.

When we asked about talks fizzling out, ROH, or "multiple other offers" as reported elsewhere, we weren't given comment. Tony Khan wasn't asked any Cody related questions at this week's media scrum.
