Major Jeff Hardy-AEW Update, More On WWE Departure

Jeff Hardy will be All Elite soon, in the least surprising breaking news story we've ever had.

We've also learned that Hardy is slated to be at this Wednesday's AEW Dynamite, though we aren't sure if he's appearing on the program as soon as then.

Hardy, a former TNA and WWE Champion, drew interest from All Elite Wrestling after his WWE release, which took place late last year. Hardy already confirmed as much himself last week, in which he tried to backtrack on. However, Fightful was told that the working plan has been for him to come in fairly quickly after AEW was assured there were no substance issues that led to his WWE departure.

Fightful's sources backed up the Hardy Family's claims that Jeff Hardy passed both a breathalyzer and a drug test, the latter of which we're told "wasn't conducted on the spot." Before the drug test results came in, WWE offered Jeff Hardy rehab, in which he declined, which led to his release. Since then, WWE has made an effort to get Jeff Hardy back into the fold, offering him a Hall of Fame induction, which he and Matt Hardy have openly discussed. There were multiple WWE superstars that we spoke to that also insisted Jeff Hardy wasn't on any substance during the match and just had an "off night." One source in WWE admitted to Fightful that the company "jumped the gun on Jeff Hardy's release."

It was confirmed what many people already knew and assumed, that Matt Hardy leaving Private Party on the Wednesday, February 9 episode of Dynamite was to start the fracture and lead to an eventual storyline. The manner in which Matt Hardy left the team was a direct response to how Jeff Hardy's final WWE match went and how it was received online. We're told to expect something out of Revolution to help set the stage for this fracture even further.
