Fightful spoke to Jonah, the former Bronson Reed ahead of his NJPW Nemesis on December 9.

Jonah, still based out of Florida, clarified that immigration issues are what caused him to be booked, then unbooked from IMPACT Bound For Glory. Rocky Romero reached out to him within a few days of his WWE release to extend that New Japan wanted him to work for the company. Jonah specified that his deal with NJPW is non-exclusive, and his priority is there ahead of anything else. The working relationship between NJPW and IMPACT helped make his decision to work for both easier. D'Lo Brown contacted him to come into IMPACT.

He was told just a day or so ahead of time that he'd be doing a Smackdown dark match, and had a 15-minute meeting with Vince McMahon that day. He said Vince impressed him with his knowledge of Australian wrestling and venues. The following week, McMahon told him he liked what he saw in the then-Bronson Reed. Johny Ace and Bruce Prichard both sat in on the meeting, which Jonah felt was awkward.

When Jonah was released, he called Shawn Michaels, who was surprised by the move. Michaels told Jonah to make them regret their decision. He's not yet spoken to Triple H but said he hopes to when Triple H is healed up.
