Dev Status Update (2/2)

Hey everyone!

This post features concept art for the two upcoming characters that will be introduced with Day 9, as well as some backgrounds for new locations, our studies regarding the new Gallery feature and a tease for the Brando date.

As for the characters, one of them was already revealed in the past:

    - One we nicknamed "Torture Demon". He is shrouded in mystery and calls himself simply "Demon", a name he chose to represent what he is in Yarin's eyes, but it isn't necessarily what he truly is. The truth is more complicated than that, and his mortal visage is the only known thing about his past life. It's hard to say what he really is, perhaps something similar to Corvolin, if not the same. One thing is certain, he knows more than he lets on, and he'll play a big role in unveiling the mystery behind Yarin's amnesia.

    - A whole new character whose name is Roy, short for another name he isn't so enamoured with. Roy represents the Duskin, in a way, and is respected among the community. His role is one of a guardian, a solid helper for difficulties to come, thanks to his kindness and knowledge in spiritualism. He is friends with Cedrik and Lucra, and deeply cares for them, which facilitates a quick friendship with Yarin that can also go further if the opportunity arises. Roy isn't without his mysteries, however, as it's clear he's trying to bury his past by walking a new path of his choice.

The backgrounds are, respectively, of a Master Suite where Brando is staying, both a day and a night version, and the Duskin bar at night, which Roy owns and where Yarin will be meeting him during Day 9, along with Cedrik and Lucra.

Finally, for the Gallery images. We plan on it being possible to look at the full game sprites, side sprites and CGs, and we want these to be easily filtered through relevant categories. We think we are decided on how we want to showcase them, but we're still figuring out functionality through different displays and platforms. This may still change, but you can expect something at least similar to this. Of course, we want all the art to be unlocked through playing the game so they can represent some form of achievement, so that's another thing we want to take into account when implementing this feature. We might release a beta testing version eventually, we'll see how that goes.

And that's all for now! We'll be back next month with either a build or a progress report, if we run into any bigger complications we'll reach out to you as soon as possible.

Thank you all for your continued support, truly. You guys have been amazing and I only wish we had everything ready now, but we still need a little bit more time. After that, though, I think we'll be in a steady path towards the end of Act 1, which will be ending in the first half of Day 11. We'll stop there for a moment and finish polishing the game for its first official release (at last!) before assessing how we shall continue this project. But our focus is set on this first Act, and we'll work hard to deliver it with hopefully good quality.
