Thanks for dropping in last night! We had a blast! yes, it gets a little chippy in the heat of competition but it's all part of the game... innit?

Anyhoo.... for today's Saturday Blog I thought, well It's a little early, but the time change says it all... so I say it's time for a Springtime Q&A!! Fire away! No Favorites! Don't have a Q? A comment is fine! Or a recommendation.

Will be dropping in through the weekend to answer...

Your participation is required.

Have a great weekend!

My name isn't Tim, but I dig it!

Jesse Myers

Tim, please give me all of your thoughts (or at least a few) on The Leftovers!! I have wanted to call in and ask but always work during the show. I know you said you really enjoyed it on air, and The Blasting definitely seemed to be an homage. It's been a while since you finished now, but any favorite episodes, moments, characters? Maybe some ways it has inspired you? Would love your thoughts! Thank you so much!

jcast

hey tim, big fan! check out my music when you get a sec, i think you'd dig it https://jakecook1.bandcamp.com/album/j-e-r-k-s?t=8

Jake Cook

I've been playing Life's Too Long from the brokenhearted album a lot lately; as I'm learning piano and it's a fun and easy one to play warming up. When I started it felt like a defiant breakup song where the pov is trying to console their partner - like to comfort and encourage them to move on. Now though I feel like it's being said to convince themselves so that they can move on. Wondering if you were leaning one way or the other when writing it? p&l

Grant Kress

I've read the first two books and they're some of my favs ever!

Joseph Croskery

Tim, have you ever read my struggle by knausgard? Or is anyone else in this thread into his books? Very honest and entertaining stories about growing up, family, starting a family, etc.

Adam Gutman

Of course!

Tim Heidecker

Love the Beatles but mostly for nostalgia, reliving my nerdy teen years when I was obsessed with them in the 90s. I would tape Breakfast with the Beatles on Sunday before leaving for church then would listen to everything I missed as soon as I got home. If there were any nuggets of recordings of the Beatles speaking, I’d practically die of giddiness. Now, I have way more appreciation for the kinks. So here’s my question: Do you like the kinks?

Arnie Boldone

You have to call him then he'll give it to you

Josh Rachbach

I spoke of it on the show - I was on a plane and it was flying way too low to the ground. no crash though! WW? No Casey was inspired by John Daker

Tim Heidecker

There's less than it may appear and you can breeae through all of on cinema in a few weeks. that and Bedtime Stories? I fondly remember watching SCTV in my young teens on Nick at Night and LOVING it. very influential for me.

Tim Heidecker

Naturally!

Tim Heidecker

i liked it, but kinda stopped reading when it got to the 2000s... not much to report on there except good quality work

Tim Heidecker

SLOWLY working on it

Tim Heidecker

i consider myself a good buddy.

Tim Heidecker

i think so.

Tim Heidecker

i don't remember i'm so sorry

Tim Heidecker

Also Tim I sent a dm on insta, I saw you don't read them but I didn't know how else to reach out — just wanted to say thank you!!

Hannah

What's Doug's phone number???

Hannah

Podcaster Bill Simmons has found a lot of success with his Ringerverse. I feel like you all do what he does but in one show - reviews of music, movies, loon podcasts, and recently reality tv heheh. I would watch an entire OHL ep dedicated to any of these. Your answer I’m sure is “there’s no time!” It’s just that when I’m listening to a Ringerverse movie recap I’m wishing it was the trinity…and that includes the worm!

Shempin Jack Flash

How was the Serbian power shirt, that Ben Hur wore, from Beef House procured? Was it custom made?

Pat

I am very disappointed to have missed the recent Grand Rapids, MI show. I was in between jobs and regretfully dragged my feet too long on purchasing tickets and it sold out. There was one potentially sketchy person offering to sell me tickets through FB but I didn't feel like gambling on a potential scam.... Should I have gambled on the potential scam?

Jacob Igor

Hi Tim/Matt the worm King, just a guest rec if possible! Lisa Gilroy, she is hilarious on every podcast and a great improvisor

Joe Bellis

Can Natasha Leggero come back hosting the show with you back to back sometimes? I love her energy. /// How is Vic B with his divorce? Do you consider yourself a good buddy with good advices in this kind of situation ?Is this a good material for a new song? haha. <3

Marika Giacinti

Hi Tim, will you ever write another Tim/Gregg/Mark text chain novel like Marion’s Wish? I read Marion’s Wish on my E-Books app every time I fly and I am laughing amongst the clouds. Would love to have more.

Michael Primz

We miss you Doug! (on the Poundcast)

?

Hey Tim any thoughts on A Few Words in Defense of Our Country by Robert Hilburn? I remember seeing you posting it on instagram a few months back

Justin Mallon

Tim, I’ve noticed you make a few references to David Lynch. Are you a fan too??

Nancy

Cookies or milk?

Christian Lopez

I just want to warn you with peace and love that I'll be here a while, I'd appreciate your undivided attention and silence as I speak. Thanks, all the best. -T ...HA!

Travis Frock

Two questions: 1) I’m 78 and just discovered you all. You’re so prolific I’ll never catch up. So what are the pieces I must hear/see before I depart? (I started with the trial and. I’m hoping to live long enough to see Heidegger get his just desserts); 2) do you care to comment on the influence of SCTV on your work? Thanks and keep up the excellent work!

sonomajoe

Bobby Charles is my favorite album and when you recommended it on OH I wish I could have done a back flip but I can’t do one. I was so happy you recommended that album and I hear Bobby Charles in your work. New Orleans loves you.

David Pigott

No q just happy to have OHL in these dark days. Never been a podcast person until I got onboard with you all and it's been a blast "Thank you Tim" (Vic's drop)

Lady J.J. Armes

It's in an old entry from around the time this happened, but in Tim's Diary he touches on this

Lady J.J. Armes

The Benson Song is so good

Lady J.J. Armes

I second this

Lady J.J. Armes

hi tim! 💛 What’s the last dream you remember? Did wesley willis inspire casey + his brother? (bc the casio beats)

Jihane Bishop

hell no

Tim Heidecker

im intrigued by the beatles themed cirque du soliel show in Vegas

Jenny S

did you know how fucked up tiny tim was before you narrated the book?

Jenny S

Have you ever attended a Beatles tribute show? My daughter is turning into quite the Beatles head, so recently I’ve taken her to see Rain and the Fab Four. Obviously a bit of a corny nostalgia element to these shows, but also fun when you give in and get over that. And some really talented musicians.

Jimbalaya

I may have tried years ago and it didn't seem like something for me.

Tim Heidecker

what do you think about the show, trailer park boys?

Jenny S

getthefuckouttahere

Tim Heidecker

hmmm. i don't remember a green chicken but if you gave it to stephen he definitely got it to me.

Tim Heidecker

my wife will usually get stuff in their earliest stages... def office hours boys if we're just tossing stuff around or the on cinema team if it's specific to that.

Tim Heidecker

Beatles or Dylan?

Malia S.

Agreed. He was great on Jokerman.

A question for my fellow mid Atlantic brood: what beaches did you go to growing up? My fam always went to Bethany Beach, DE

Michael Drohan

Hey, T! I discovered your work this past year and have been delighted to get to know it better over this time. You generate a lot of ideas and I really enjoy your style of humor, so my question is: When you come up with ideas, who do you most like to share it with? Like friends, family, a wide audience, or even just keep it yourself? I know for me, my most treasured audience is my sister because we build on gags we’ve had for years and silly movie/show ideas. Let me know! (PS I read the screenplay “Bicycle Built for Two” that you and Gregg wrote years back and really enjoyed it. There are a few jokes in there that come to my mind from time to time and make me chuckle.)

Nick

Oh also, musical-head to musical-head: I would love if you could convince me to like Jesus Christ Superstar with your production! (I'm neutral about it since I saw it in highschool by my highschool). Actually: what musicals do you recommend? And speaking of music: I'm sorry about implying you didn't know Weezer after that glowing review of an album I also really liked. So it shouldn't be a surprise that I can never stop hearing "In The Garage" when you open an OHL ep and mention your garage studio. I think the lyrics are so close to describing OHL and that safe space you've made. in the garage. Would be cool if you covered it (or played some of it, if you'll get dinged)

lilula9

appreciate that!

Tim Heidecker

haha i forgot I watched some of that show and have no memory of anything about it.

Tim Heidecker

we had 2 dogs for many years and both have passed on to the beyond and we're happily pet free for now.

Tim Heidecker

i haven't heard any talk of that. they just reissued the Spacebomb stuff and I doubt Jag will be interested in a reprint.

Tim Heidecker

Hey Tim and team— Been trying to fit in a minute here and there to zoom in and ask but life been bizzy… Somehow I have silly time to write this silly message that is also very important 😎🤙 Did you ever get my green chicken from the NOLA show at Tips? I gave it to Steven (sp?) merch homie. Caught chicken guy at the Cleopatra parade outside b4 show and thought you’d appreciate his real good face. Hope everything worked out. Figured he might be a nice addition to the very good band, as he’s always got his best drumsticks on him.. 🤢✌️💚 ((p.s. great show. see ya next time))

Katherine hill

When will you become a dog dad?

ffejenks

Check out the band Mountain King. Modern dad rock.

James beeson

I see that Bloodshot Records has re-issued some of your catalog! Any chance of a re-issue of "Too Dumb For Suicide," or should I fork over for a (very expensive) used copy?

Will Ochs

I wanted to express my appreciation for OHL team and your dedication to cultivating a cool and fun/ funny community that's authentic. I am fairly new to OHL patreon but the time energy and effort you put into your creative pursuits is admirable. Popping in to repartee with the community on the weekend, just, I see it, honor it, appreciate TVDM et al. and it helps me feel connected and emotionally regulated! 🫶🏽 three cheers for virtual 3rd spaces! 🚀

Malia S.

Ay Jon, I hear you - I have opinions about the show. Some opinions are in favor. Others are not. Pine Barrens and College are excellent episodes, there are many! James G and Edie F give consistent excellent performances. AJs tee shirts belong in a millennial museum! Meadow being an idealistic college KIA, classic and real. Joey pants and his toupee- chefs kiss. Some of the B plots just didn't resonate. Artie Bucos character arc felt like a strong start then aimless. Furio? The "finook" priest? Tony living in a sad-dad apartment while Carmella figures things out 🥴Not great in my opinion. Ultimately I respect the position the show has in pop culture and media. Now let's go to the diner and get some onion rings.

Malia S.

Tim! Were you satisfied with Levi’s character arc on the NBC sci fi classic “La Brea”?

Ryan Zimmerman

hank williams, George Jones, Patsy Cline, Dillards, Flying Burrito Bros, Waylon, Willie, i like Vince Gill (but not much of his recordings) Sturgill... probably a lot more.

Tim Heidecker

who are your favorite country artists?

sarah g.w.

the only story i have on that is i didn't look too much into it! Just went in blind and hoped for the best... i knew his name from high school though when listening to him being name checked on a jon spencer blues explosion record!

Tim Heidecker

Tim! Pavements! Looking forward to your portrayal of Gerard Cosloy. What a crazy guy! On top of all the obvious stuff, played with GG Allin! Hear any good stories while looking into the role?

Ryan Zimmerman

no strong feelings on him honestly. i'm more interested in Sergio Leone... I have been meaning to give Unforvigen another watch though.

Tim Heidecker

haha i hope we did!

Tim Heidecker

comes pretty natural. TOO natural! I often gotta pull back and edit!

Tim Heidecker

sure,

Tim Heidecker

would love to.. working on it

Tim Heidecker

definitely touring and seeing the country and seeing that peopel and things carry on despite the madness you read about.

Tim Heidecker

no but i'll dip in to that and the new panda bear as someone mentioned. welcome to the patreon!

Tim Heidecker

MARK the occasion??

Tim Heidecker

i'm happy people have a place to congregate but i think it's best left that way, without too much involvement from me. honestly i'm trying to keep everything HERE and you get enough of me through the show and this Saturday Blog IMO

Tim Heidecker

what kind of surprise would that be if i told you? but no not yet?

Tim Heidecker

no, that seemed insane and for pure collectors only

Tim Heidecker

not really, if i'm really curious i can google, but i just assume they are lame people no one should be caring about.

Tim Heidecker

not really, but we do taco night quite a bit and have a good system down

Tim Heidecker

they used to be incels implies they are no longer incels anymore though. I plan on dying on this hill. thanks!

Tim Heidecker

I joined your Patreon recently so not sure if you've shared opinions about them before, but are you into Animal Collective? The last couple albums they've put out are among my favs and it's renewed my interest in them... Can't stop listening

Gryphon Myers

With the way things are going in this country I find it hard to keep a positive mindset. I do listen to you guys as a form of escape. What types of things help you not feel completely hopeless?

🖤Cassie🖤

The 5th anniversary of “Marion’s Wish” is coming up in April—any plans to mark the occasion?

Mary-Anne McTrowe

Sending love from SF, went to the show at Bimbo’s, my face hurt from smiling so much it was great! Another home run Oscar special too :) Thanks so much for all your work, OHL is the best!

Ryan Zimmerman

Tim! Majority Report and Hasan Piker are where I get my updates these days. Would love to see Hasan back on the show. He translated Turkish for Vic’s hacker in an insane episode of OHL live in LA. Any memories from this?!

Ryan Zimmerman

matthew lillard should be in this

Jenny S

Also I was nervous during game night and the untrue part of the pun was that they used to be incels and it's true they used to be in cells.... I had to get that out there because it has been bothering me lol. Thanks for all the content Doug, Tim ,Vic and Matt

Noah

Do you have a recipe your family likes enough/never get sick of that you cook it at least once a week?

Howard

Just reading the new Alan Partridge book and I noticed how it’s got quite a few references to UK culture that might not translate if you’re not from here (like minor celebrities or regional stereotypes that probably aren’t known about in the states). As a big partridge-head yourself does that ever affect your enjoyment of it? Or with any UK made media I suppose.

Katrina Galvin

Hello! I'm one of the Discord admins on both the OHL and your personal Discord servers (ohsurewalktothesun). I may call in at some point in the future to chat more about this, but, we're coming up on the two year mark of the creation of the Timcord (the Discord server we helped you get up and running right after you left Twitter). I know that you've mainly been hands off and letting us run things, but I'd still like to ask: How do you feel the Discord experiment went for you? How are we doing? There are many, many things about the OHL/On Cinema/Timcord Discord communities that I'm incredibly thankful for, and I'm very happy continuing to do what I can to help moderate and administer the servers, but sometimes I feel like your personal Discord server sits in this very weird place in terms of utility, what its identity is, and what kinds of conversations happen there. I don't know that I have good answers right now. But, would you still be open to occasionally do voice hangouts again on your Discord server? Should we just say it was a cool, interesting experiment, say "all the best" and move on from it? It is your Discord server, so I thought I'd ask directly.

Josh Parsons

Moon Base 8 is one of my favorites to watch on repeat. Ever consider doing a second season? Here's my pitch: Turns out Captain Kelce DIDN'T die in that hole: Our heroes are all spread-out into the world now, but a mysterious benefactor reunites them with an offer to maintain a LIGHTHOUSE. Things start going wrong immediately when the lighthouse is CUT-OFF from the mainland. Is it CAPTAIN KELCE out for revenge or a MYSTERIOUS GHOST? Watch and see!

Alexander F. Clark

OHL and / or VGB live Down Under?

Blake Wilshaw

Did you ever dig into that Dylan live 1974 boxset they released late last year?

Dan

I only know their work on the soundtrack to Adventureland (one of my favorite movies, a beautiful, underrated film) but that alone is great

Angelo Mike

Peanut butter and jelly on potato bread?

Brian Rooney

Wanted to recommend the new album Gut by Baths - he’d be a great guest on OHL!

Steezy

Will there be any surprise guests for the London shows? Looking forward to it 🩷

Jeny

Have you heard the new Yo La Tengo EP? It’s a perfectly cozy & meandering score for a movie ‘Old Joy’ with Bonnie Prince Billy. They’re some of my dream OHL guests.

Chris

Do you find you have to force out the honesty and vulnerability in music or does it naturally come out that way? Sometimes it feels like there’s a level of being exposed that’s hard to navigate.

Lindsey Taylor

I watched Paint Your Wagon (1969 western-comedy-musical starring Clint Eastwood/Lee Marvin/Jean Seberg) recently and it's such an insane movie but something about it so goofy & charming. It got me thinking about Clint Eastwood & what a long, wild (multiple movies with an orangutan costar!)& influential career he's had. I remember you were watching a bunch of westerns a while back, do think you enjoy Eastwood most as an actor or as a director? Your thoughts on Eastwood or his body of work in general?

Carol

Game night was so fun, please tell me you guys saved those drawings, also can I buy them

Melissa

I would recommend Blitzed: Drugs in Nazi Germany by Norman Ohler. It's really good with insight into how drugs fueled the third Reich

Noah

We’re writing a movie that may or may not ever happen!

Tim Heidecker

Not a question but Sopranos came up on game night. Somebody complaining about how it doesn’t “hold up” today citing the Columbus Day episode. The whole point of the episode today and the day it aired is that Columbus is an asshole as well as the meatheads painting him as a hero(T and the boys). It’s a show about hilarious assholes, like all the great shows, Seinfeld, Succession, Gemstones, White Lotus etc. If you don’t get that “In this house Chwishtuphuh Columbus izza hero” is a joke, I don’t know what to tell you. Peace and loov

Jon Smith

Yes / No / Yes… more than a cameo I think!

Tim Heidecker

No clue

Tim Heidecker

Tim, whatever happened with Fired on Mars? Did it get renewed? I really enjoyed that show.

Malia S.

Hey Tim have you heard of the cds and the documentary "Shut Up Little Man" ? HAve you checked out the adult swim show called Common Side Effects? DId you do a cameo appearance in a show called Small Town Big Story? Ok have a good weekend, Peace and Luv

Kara

the variety is the fulfulling part. curious what you think.

Tim Heidecker

thank you for sharing. There's no concious or deliberate connection but i think they happen unconsciously... for example Slipping starts with Wells Running Dry and ends with Bells are Ringing - kind of rhyming opposite ideas... both in the key of D... didn't set out to do that but there it is.

Tim Heidecker

hmmm.... Ruth Garbus or Joanna Sternberg would be top of my list

Tim Heidecker

What feels more fulfilling to you in your career? You are in movies, shows and music. What would you be most proud of contributing ? I have my opinion on what I feel you might say but would like to hear yours first. Thank You

TheReal007

Hey T, do you have any particular favourite or memorable music performances at the studio? I think my fav was Daniel Romano!

Kyle Sikorski

Hi Tim. This is something I’ve been meaning to ask since the Slipping Away album came out, so apologies if you’ve already answered this before and/or if this a stupid nerdy question. Almost every other day, I play “Kern River” as my closer - the last song I listen to before I retire my earbuds. Regardless of how the day went by, I always find the song to be comforting from its very first “breath”. In particular, I find comfort in the fact that even if the “Future is Uncertain”, even if I am gonna grow old and all of this is gonna end someday, I am happy to float and enjoy life for what it is; for the purpose of life is to live. And now, cut to the first song in your new album: Well’s Running Dry. I should preface by saying that regardless of my name, I have no musical abilities so apologies for incorrectly using the jargons. But it does seem like Kern River and WRD follow a similar guitar “structure”. To my untrained ears, it seems like there is a connection b/w these two songs both in terms of the way instruments are used, and also the general theme/message. In KR you have “someday I’m gonna be getting old” from the perspective of a young person, and in WRD you have “words don’t come // like they did when I was young”. In short, this is a long-winded way of asking if there a link connecting High School to Slipping Away or am I just extrapolating? If there is, is the next project going to be what happens in between these two stages? i.e., the experience of floating and living through this stream of life itself? Thanks for reading this. I would also like to recommend you to this Japanese song I really like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6B67YpRsmtw (Life is like a boat by Rie Fu). I find the (Japanese) lyrics very comforting.

Ravisankar A V

i don't think characters work as well on the show - although sometimes it does... i like em though and maybe when they have something to promote

Tim Heidecker

learning about it NOW

Tim Heidecker

when he's back and settled in and available.

Tim Heidecker

Eric Wareheim would love to hear about this/ where do i find the flyer?

Tim Heidecker

John. He's be nothing but bones!

Tim Heidecker

not that i remember. he just came up because he looked like this sorta rock star guy that worked (still does?) at NASA and was very flashy and he seemed like a good analogue to that kind of vibe. he was very nice and fun to work with!

Tim Heidecker

after a Neil Hamburger show at a club in LA - 2004 or 2005?

Tim Heidecker

yep

Tim Heidecker

That whole Brave & the Bold album has top-notch covers! 👍

Scott K

What’s your favorite cover song? Seeing Bonnie prince Billy the other week reminded me of mine, which is his cover of Thunder Road! I love when the interpretation of a song is different than the original, but still gets its own unique vibe

Matthew Rickle

I know you helped produce their show but have you considered having Chad and or JT on Office Hours?

Casey

Would love to see Dan on OHL. Can’t wait to see them on tour this fall

Chad

It would be a very interesting dynamic. Tim did great rolling with them on their pod but theyd need to adjust a bit on ohl

Anthony B

Perennial but vital question: when the hell are you and Eric gonna do something together again? Beef House was so good and dipped back into that amazing well.

Mac

Hey guys! Has there been any attempts to get Sean Clements and/or Hayes Davenport on the podcast? Tim went on Hollywood handbook for a few years in a row not long ago and they are great eps! I'd love to see Tim and them on office hours getting into it!! Do they ever drop the act??!!

Austin Kopach

is this a sequel to dunston checks in?

Jenny S

If you take a dump and the loaf is particularly robust and well formed, should you leave it in the toilet for the next person to admire or do you flush if you are at a Michelin star restaurant?

T

Vic talked about Todd Rundgren’s “Ever Popular Tortured Artist Effect” as if it was a throwaway contract obligation record but it’s one of my favorites.

Gary Shindler

I wrote a screenplay about a police detective and his orangutan partner investigating a heroin drug ring and the shipping magnate behind it. Would you like to read it?

Geoffrey Thomas

Do you think they will ever bring the cash for clunker program back?

T

Are you a fan of the band Destroyer, Tim?

Karen Locker

Recommendation: Walter Becker's solo album 11 Tracks of Whack

Drew Hall

What was the moment on the Oscar special that Eric Roberts improved? Was it the “I’ll give you all the money you want?” And you saying “I don’t believe you”?

Howard

Are you excited for the Hayden Pedigo x Chat Pile collab/album ?

Grant Peterson

also i know vic has watched and enjoyed some of rupaul’s drag race and as an active watcher of that show, my ultimate pipe dream is for gregg as neil hamburger to be a guest judge on there because i think he would be a hilarious juxtaposition to the usual vibe of the show -R

Sean n Ray

Hello Tim. How did you meet Gregg Turkington irl? I believe that On Cinema is peerless and a masterpiece. Nothing quite like it.

Bryan Price

I just got tickets to see Glengarry Glen Ross on broadway and it got me thinking… will you have Bob back on soon ?

Natty Norts

I work for a college in OC and my department is fighting for funding. We're having a huge plant sale soon, could you repost the flyer?! Love you all <3

Ashley signorelli

At the New Orleans show I was the guy in front who said “Alright Randy Newman!” during the shrooms song. I love Randy and Bobby Charles and your music is the closest thing to those two.

David Pigott

Which beatle would you least want to meet?

Beev

i recently got around to watching moonbase 8 (btw it makes me so sad that it didn’t get its flowers, was a very fun series that i wish we could get more of), and it was crazy to see adam lambert in it! crazy in a good way, because he was the first (open and proud) lgbt celebrity that i really looked up to as a queer emo (lol) kid. afaik, he’d never done any acting stuff before (or since), so i was just curious how he got involved and what it was like working with him. from what i saw, part of it was you and fred both being big fans of queen but was wondering if there was anything else to the story -R

Sean n Ray

Since Stern doesn't use the Wack Packers anymore can get Sour Shoes, Bigfoot, and Beetlejuice on the show soon? See you in Austin! I'm Warning You With Peace & Love, John, in Houston

John Villarreal

Hell yeah!

Hum

What happened to On Cinema Tim’s first son? He was mentioned in the second season. He lived in Jackson Hole, WY. Why bother with Corbin or Matt Newman when you got a good boy of your own!

Long Time Fan

I would love to see/ hear the very talented Matt Berry on OHL!! It seems like a dream team prime time event, you and Matt together, as you both love quirky comedy and aren’t afraid to get silly. At the same time you both share amazing taste in music and had released extensive catalogues of music. Any plans to have him on the show?

johan churchill

While perusing graphic novels in my local library, I came across a project I had no idea existed that involved you. Wondering how your involvement with Giraffes on Horseback Salad came about and what the process of adapting it was like. (Haven’t read it yet but it’s next in the queue)

Randy Faucheux

No Q, only compliment. T, I hope you know you’re one of the best live entertainers going right now. I’ve seen you three straight years and you drive the crowd crazy (in a good way) each time. The last Phoenix show was a riot. Who else can drive people into a frenzy getting them all screaming for “Hot piss!”? Also, you guys always time game nights perfectly; right when I need a silly/lazy/unwinding Friday night. So, thank you, fellas.

Chad

Do you know about how many On Cinema gold ticket Candy Maker trading cards were printed? I have one and I’m dying to know! I reached out to the Hei network help center and they weren’t sure.

Kate Gray

A few years ago you had a lot of gas and constantly burped. Now you seem to have gotten it under control. I suffer from the same burping issue. How did you fix your burping/gas, Tim?

EdeeBoyJones

What's your favorite Kinks record?

Sweetjimmyt

Have you read the McCartney Legacy vol 2? If not, big recommend!

Travis Zelasko

How are the sinuses holding up these days? Would you still recommend that procedure?

Tim Erbes

Any chance of more Tim/Greg/Mark text threads being released? I love Marion’s Wish.

Matt M.

What is your favorite way to eat eggs?

Elizabeth Lee

Would you ever be able to get Josh Tillman on the show? He’s my dream guest and I know you guys worked together a little back in the day. ✌🏼❤️

Luke Brown

are there any stories from tour you haven’t told yet that you would share? Is there a specific city you love touring to and would never leave off your list of stops?

Hannah Sullivan

My recommendation: Get leftist YouTube iamblakeley on the show. They've been doing fantastic work criticizing America's role (especially that of Dems) in empowering the genocide in Palestine. They've been demonetized by YouTube for supporting violence, which is cover for they spoke up for Palestinians. Book recommendation: The Russia House by John Le Carre. Great story about the ugly moral implications of covert operations. My mom missed seeing you in DC due to the snow but she still looks back on dancing with you onstage in your precious tour as one of the happiest moments of her life. Seffay feff!

Angelo Mike

we should do one at the Elysian for fun!

Tim Heidecker

no I cherish it!

Tim Heidecker

geez that's a tough one. mostly it's all feel and chemistry and you either like someone or you don't. our characters have been so finely tuned and developed over many years it just works.

Tim Heidecker

I will not be going... I don't really like the way that guy talks to women. i've seen it in person and it's soured me on him.

Tim Heidecker

I don't but would be curious if there was a good site for that?

Tim Heidecker

i've tried but it doesn't really apeal to me. even the deep cuts people reccomend.

Tim Heidecker

I was going to ask you this last night during the game night on zoom, but I'm awfully shy. This is Ash! Has your peanut m&m bracelet I made you broken yet? I noticed it was a little small when you wore it for the Madison show, so I was worried it would snap. Luv ya, Tim!!! ✌🏼❤️

Will there be another Office Hours Live show in LA? Really regret missing that last one

Raider Villalobos

i think we did that with a lower third or in one of the news posts.

Tim Heidecker

i've never played!

Tim Heidecker

i suppose it's possible!

Tim Heidecker

no was never a fan of video games and try to avoid them

Tim Heidecker

over medium with a bit of crispiness to the bottoms

Tim Heidecker

can't get into it.

Tim Heidecker

the latter. but it was all good!

Tim Heidecker

Do you like disc golf?

ELxMEGA

sorry no

Tim Heidecker

no but it's on my list. loved Vol 1!

Tim Heidecker

jesus christ, i have no idea!

Tim Heidecker

Blood On The Tracks... Desire...

Tim Heidecker

Did ya ever have a joke around the work "tomato" last season when Tim going by "T. Amato" and his face was turning red? I was waiting for that. 😋

Christo

no

Tim Heidecker

good question - i just remember being in the back of a friend's car and that stuff was blasting and i just found it literally very exhausting - like it made me sleepy. I couldnt make out what anyone was saying and there wasn't a lot of consideration of melody or anything. not for me, but happy there was a place for some positive messaging for the young men out there.

Tim Heidecker

this falls into the "favorite" category

Tim Heidecker

just for you Chase! https://timheidecker.bandcamp.com/track/im-still-down-for-dancing

Tim Heidecker

What's the best meal you've ever eaten? Also, I finally joined the "Severance" train and would recommend if the Trinity aren't already fans.

Kate

I’m embarrassed to admit, as a Monty Python fan, I finally watched Fish Called Wanda last month after you mentioned it during the Kevin Kline anecdotes last year and after I saw John Cleese speak. (Of course, Kevin Kline's unhinged performance was definitely Oscar Worthy.) But I had no idea my favorite Monty Python, Michael Palin, was in it and shared an amazing scene with (your “favorite”) John Cleese. They’ve spoken a bit on how their real-life conflict helps with their on screen antagonistic chemistry. Question: After being dazzled by the Oscar Special, I was curious what you think gives you and Gregg such great antagonistic chemistry. And maybe compare that to working with Eric Wareheim? You all are so supportive of each other and seem to have telepathy when improvising.

lilula9

this is such a good question IMO

tenderoni

I’m curious because of your age and being somewhere adjacent to that scene with your college music. I know there’s nothing worse than a why don’t you like this question. Is there something about straight edge music particularly that turns you off? I know you probably said it as an off the cuff joke (with some truth I’m sure). There’s some new bands who push that message and it’s refreshing in the swarm of pop and rap that truly glorifies drugs to the youth in the age of fentanyl. Unfortunately the days of just doing coke at a party one night on a whim as a non habitual drug user are becoming increasingly more dangerous. I would love to see a XXX band like steamroll, raw brigade, if it rains, hindsight, inclination, liberate, anklebiter, magnitude, balmora, or many others, come through to the studio. Would be a great musical segment and I’m sure a good convo where you could rib them a bit. Sorry to ramble on!

MIKE2023

Is your lyric “And I don't mind making bread” from Dark Days an homage to Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike”?

Patrick H

Can you recommend me a Bob Dylan album? I’m a casual fan & curious what inspires you.

Lindsey Taylor

If you had to recommend an album/a movie to someone who’d never listened to music/watched a movie before, what would you recommend?

Hannah Sullivan

Hey Tim, the game night was super fun last night and I was glad to be apart of it. I have been rewatching old OHL episodes alot lately because they truly bring me joy and make me laugh. Are you guys planning any more OHL live shows in the future?

Noah

thoughts on jimmy buffett? he was good friends with paul apparently...i thought i might be hearing some influence of his on the new album.

Kyle Moore

I wondered if you have had time to listen to (or read) the second volume of The McCartney Legacy - and if so, what did you think! Would love to chat with you about this on OHL if you'd prefer to save your answer for a future show?

John Galantini

Hi Tim, Wanted to say thanks for your willingness to do an interview with me and my friend Kevin on our community radio station 2 years ago. It was our first go at it, so we had to come out with a heavy hitter like you. Anyway, after that the station gave us a show. We are on every Wednesday night at 9pm WVMO 98.7 Fm. It's an all volunteer run station. Anyway this week Wednesday we will be celebrating our full first year on the air. The show is called The Seagull. You can listen online at wvmo.fm, or you can listen to past shows on our instagram https://www.instagram.com/wearetheseagull Thanks!

Scott Pauli

Thank you for your support of the trans community! 💕

Robyn

Q: I’ve been searching for the robe you wore in ‘Us’ for years and it’s been almost impossible to find. Any intel?

tenderoni

On this year's Oscar Special, were Eric Roberts' positive reactions to the absurd shit he was presented with planned? Or was that him getting a bit creative and you keeping things on track by calling him facetious? Thanks for the laughs and the beautiful music!

Sarah R

I will always seize an opportunity to request more songwriting streams. The Benson song, holiday song, and "I'm Hungry" with The Lemon twigs are the best.

Keith Salowich

Ever F with the band Traffic? Jon Barleycorn.... Low Spark of High heeled boys? If not.......that's my recommendation. https://youtu.be/fjSIKeEr0e8?si=KSef48xVDfuM4tNY

Jim D.

How does Tim take his eggs? Jacques Pépin does this great thing where he names egg dishes after the people who like them a particular way, so I say we call whatever your answer is Eggs Tim.

Vitamin J

Oh my god wait I have another. I was watching the episode of the Sarah Silverman program you were in the other day. Were you completely shocked when you found out Jay was at 1/6?? Or was he always weird??

Nat

Have any favorite video games? New or old

Bryan Hamill

Is it possible to get the rights to Decker et al back?

Doctor Tony

You seem pretty plugged into the awful things this administration is doing, and more generally the trends on the Right in the USA. Do you keep tabs on the fascists outside of our borders or is that not really on your radar?

Trotsky

Did Matt miss the boat in having Paul scheer come promote his book? Yes.

MIKE2023

I would love to find out that Mark Mothersbaugh had been secretly watching every episode of office hours and was thrilled to be asked on

Sid Blevins

round and round is a classic

Jenny S

Artificial grape flavor or artificial banana flavor?

Todd

Long time fan of Office Hours and On Cinema. But I am busy mom so I hardly ever get to watch live. I agree with so many of your fans who told you on the road, that Office Hours keeps me sane and I am so grateful for it! Q: Will you be going to the premier of Swamp Dogg Gets His Pool Painted in L.A? Hope you can make it!

Channy Leaneagh

How is spring down there? Where I'm at everything is coming alive

Andrew C.

Ya like Ratt?

Scott K

Hey Tim, do you know Sarah Tudzin (Illuminati Hotties)? I believe she worked as an engineer on one of your records a few years back. It'd be cool to see her on OHL sometime! Sounds like she has new music in the works. You should check IH out if you haven't already. Thanks!

Joe Cole

Good & Plenty and a birch beer (Cherri & Bubb too if you can find it)

Todd

If you could play any character in the upcoming Sam Mendes Beatles universe, who would it be?

Connor Hewson

Something you collect that people don’t know/wouldn’t think you did?

Lefty

hasn't come up in a while.

Tim Heidecker

we've been doing the crossword puzzle together and that's been very nice.

Tim Heidecker

Revisiting HS now to figure out where :)

Scott K

The only coffee i get is Stumptown's Holler Mountain Roast... It's just what i always get but i'm not picky with coffee

Tim Heidecker

Podcast rec: Drifter's Sympathy is an amazing podcast that I honestly think is right up your alley, specifically the episodes The Dawn Of Selfish Music part 1 and 2 https://open.spotify.com/episode/17uPu5euvBCbMMXKujxq7m?si=sPR7xX4eQMe1IrCuKqezVg%0A

Jimjim

Let’s get another drop concert in 2025!

Lefty

I remember when High School came out, there was some parts of the album that had a steve winwood Valerie feel (in a good way!) to it

Scott K

Q: as a daughter of a ‘girl dad’, you’re one of my favorite girl dads out there (thank you for this!) and love the relationship you have with her! What’s your favorite thing about being a ‘girl dad’

tenderoni

in studio!

Jenny S

no it's Weyesblood. we bascially made that record together. Ellie does play bass on it though!

Tim Heidecker

tim, i just wanna say, you are a great actor! i’ve just started the final what we do in the shadows season. every time i see you in a movie or show, outside of the tim heidecker cinematic universe. im always really impressed. i’ll try to come up with a question later.

Jenny S

Is Amelia still into Taylor Swift?

Monique

working on that for the fall. I hope it can happen.

Tim Heidecker

I was more of a Far Side and Bloomsbury guy.

Tim Heidecker

Tim! You’re bringing OnCinema to London but are yah bringing the VGBaaand? ✌🏻

Hum

the biggest challenge is always just time and money... every year the oscar special gets more expensive to produce - prices rise (while we charge the same) our ambitions get bigger... me being on the road up until 4 days before wasn't ideal... on the day there's just not enough time to run things with the actors to get things as dialed in as we might ideally hope for... of course some of that chaos leads to great stuff - biggest reward is just the relief no one got hurt and we're all still great friends!

Tim Heidecker

Anywhere But Here absolutely wrecks me! Also I just met Panda!! Animal Collective and NIN are my two favorite bands of all time so I was freaking out

Chase

Hey Tim at the Nashville show I asked if you could find that missing b side from High School that you played on a Patreon stream once and you said you would try to find it and put it on the Patreon. I’m just here as a friendly reminder. Excited for new tunes always my dude! 🤘👽

Chase

I don’t have a question, but I wanted to say that there have been a lot of big changes in my life this year and Fear of Death (album) has been my background music through it all. It is such a perfect album and I’m happy to have these memories tied to it. Is Eliana the person singing backup on that album? (I guess I found a question)

Nat

Guest ideas: Tom Green Mark Mothersbaugh Music guests: Wolf Eyes Lightning Bolt

Joe Legzz

I really have to make that happen.

Tim Heidecker

I LIKE it! watched it on a plane recently and it's a fun movie and Eddie Murphy is marvelous in it.

Tim Heidecker

Also, the new Panda Bear is really good and kind of more in your wheel house than his previous work, would be great to have his new band on the show and hear you talk about songwriting with him

Sid Blevins

What kind of coffee roast is your go-to? Light roasts give me heartburn, drinking some dark Peet’s now. Throwing in a rec, there’s a new Carson biography out, liking it so far.

Max

hmmm. not that i can think of. but i don't see enough stuff to really have a strong take on that.

Tim Heidecker

i do not! There are some films that come to me that don't have money or feels like it wouldn't be worth my time, but i'm generally pretty open and interested in trying to make it work.

Tim Heidecker

Vic needs to do an edit of the Tesla sales pitch at the Whitehouse

Paul Dye

Can't think of anything so uhhh what's your relationship to Calvin and Hobbes?

Josh Rachbach

Ey Tim, big fan of you n the boys, love you all very much—you keep me in good company during long hours working in my lab. I've been too chicken to zoom into OHL but gonna try to get over that and try my hand soon. As for a q, just curious what was the biggest challenge AND reward re: this year's oscar's special. Peace and love!

Max Goranson

Is there a role in a film you've seen recently that you wished you had gotten to play, and what might your personal take on the character have been?

Sid Blevins

I'll try and find out when we bring On Cinema to London this summer

Tim Heidecker

Q: do you turn down a lot of roles? I love your acting and am always surprised to not see you in more films

tenderoni

never been asked and don't think i'd seek it out. not really my speed that one.

Tim Heidecker

What are your thoughts on the movie Bowfinger?

Andrew C.

Will Danny McBride ever be on the show?

patrickduffy

I think it's time you had Sam Seder back on again!

Paul Dye

Q: What the hell's going on in England?

Matt

Will Tim ever go on Never Not Funny?
