Long Distance Laugh Fest (Ep 328)

It was a long distance laugh fest with Tim and Doug zooming in from the road in Asheville and the rest of the gang in Glendale with exclusive coverage of Jimmy Fallon's bad Tonight Show vibes, Vic's music news with Kid Rock and Woody Allen and a great opportunity for you to find the Foghat. PLUS, some Bill Maher ipod revelations from behind the Club Random paywall, Doug's Guess the City from the Slipping Away Tour game, a rare Double Dopp O' The Mornin', a visit from Eliana Athayde, a few bone picks, and a rapid fire zoom room clear out.

Go see Tim on tour and at Tim Fest 2 in Austin! Get tickets at timheidecker.com/live

pat finnerty did a breakdown of the kid rock vid on his patreon a night or two before this episode aired

Was that guy talking about his beef with the "guy from Australia" doing a bit? It reminded me of when people talk about YouTube drama, like "GrimGram17 totally came for X_Dubby_Z"

direct link works—thank you! 🙏

Ellie is absolutely right. Thank you all!

Evan Palmer

Ben Posey

I fixed it by force quitting Patreon and YouTube

A C

Holy Trinity and Matt shows are the best!

Jorge S

Woody on the clarinet needs to join the Swing Dancing! bit on T&E. Or... wait... is he on there? Let me check.

Ashley Oh

I'll never look at Tiny Tim the same again.

Ashley Oh

fair enough, thanks for the thoughtful response. I just have an aversion to ads and thought it undercut the gag ads, didn't realise it was meant to be edited for patreon. cheers

Sam B

Sounds like Doug went to a STRESStaurant for the lunar new year

Evan Strippelhoff

Not really sure why it would change but see if the direct link works https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUMP0-qu-jM

Tim Heidecker

Tim has addressed this more succinctly before - think of it as a very small tip for the Trinity. I will elaborate more since a couple people have commented about ads. We are on a podcast network that supports us in various ways including ad money. As the YouTube numbers have increased we seem to be booking some more ads that are also booked to be included on the YouTube stream. Because the show is live the only way to fulfill that is by doing a live read on the show which means it winds up on both the free half and the full Patreon version . We do our best to edit it out of the full show that’s behind the paywall after we stream live but sometimes there’s a delay or YouTube is processing the video for a long time or we have other stuff going on that prevents us from getting to it right away or we forgot (sorry! Thanks for reminding) etc. As to why we book ads when Patreon is our main source of income - Despite our spoofs and goofs it’s actually a small business with a small but dedicated crew of freelancers that we try to treat as fairly and generously as possible. so even though it’s not a ton of dough from ads it adds up. then we can do stuff like an extra day of shooting for a pre recorded thing, give holiday bonuses, get Wes new cameras, get Luke a new computer, buy Vic a hot tub, etc etc without having to worry about it. (Kidding about the hot tub but the rest is real) There’s a little cushion from these dumb ads that we try to make as quick and painless as possible. Ok getting off my high horse now. Fast forward through the ad. Or wait for us to edit it out. Have a nice day! 🫡 -Matt

that used to work for me too but not anymore 🥲

creg

Bill, I liked ipods too! the clickwheel was deeply satisfying.

Producer Matt should also be dubbed Medic Matt--my nurse brain appreciated the BRAT diet education and being gentle to your tummy. Hope Ellie is doing better after what sounded like a bad norovirus run. And Doug's ear. And Tim's cold/flu/something. Also after Tim's Abbott and Costello confession, I would be highly interested in watching the trinity riffing/cringing to a movie together. Overall a very fun trinity ep!

lilula9

lovely episode as ever. right at the end it's uncannily like tim blows the 'thanka for watching' graphic into existence https://streamable.com/asuurs

i see people complain about this but i’ve never experienced it. must be something with the way people watch the show

Great episode 👏

Shout out to Tim for paying respect to the CBS Orchestra. Huge influence as a kid, being on Letterman/learning music. (Anton Fig!). Even the past members were incredible musicians.

KD

That dop is SO Tim it’s insane

jack

Should be able to click the YouTube logo and it will take you to the YouTube app. Works for me

Tanner Law

Has Tim shared why there aren’t LA dates? Is it that crowds are too hipstery or too into comedy stuff and not the music?

Ricky C

yeap

Josh Hunt

is it possible to post the full show youtube link on these episode posts too? i consistently get a youtube error when trying to play in patreon: “sign in to confirm you’re not a bot” and there’s no way around it now.

creg

You’re welcome, but I’m not Tim.

Des L

Thank you for coming to Asheville Tim

Shout out to the guy who brought up The Residents, the full diaper of bands. Fucking hell, I can't believe I had to listen to that shit in the early 90s when my buddies got into "experimental" music. Negativeland was kinda cool though.
