Tour Diary - Part 2

Good morning from the tip of Washington state, on our way into Canada and bye bye to USA for 24 hours.

OK now we're rolling! We had a great show in Portland last with the proper revolutionary show flow in effect and a packed house... It was so fun. Kyle joined us and fit in right away with the band and the crew... his set was so funny, and I came out and we goofed around for a bit. The show had a fair amount of goofs and looseness that I hope I can hold onto for a while.

We spent our day off in Medford where we bummed around, went out to a semi decent Japanese place, took a dip in a mediocre hotel hot tub.... and tried to get some rest. JP had recommended Amazon's Lord of The Rings series. I fired it up and fell asleep about 4 minutes in! I've also been falling asleep to that new Joker movie. wow! What a weird movie! Its such a drag but kind of amazing to look at... well to look at HIM....

We're currently parked at a Camping World because our trailer lights are out. Thank you Camping World for your toilets.

That's all I have for now! -T

Thanks for the update, and have a great show! A Joker 2 aside: I love how musicals can easily slide out of our literal world, showcasing a character's mental state or message as over-the-top as needed in a consensual break from reality. but, being a moderate Batman fan, I have to wonder if any musical-ness is needed for the Joker character. Just...why? What for? And for whom?? I see the most conflict/angst when it's Batman vs Joker anyway. (To be fair, I'd accept other Rogues Gallery conflicts as musicals, like Mr Freeze starting as a good guy but keeps committing evil for love, Two Face grappling with losing his prestige and regaining it by turning into the scum he fought, Riddler riddled with insecurity and overcoming it to confidently/obnoxiously troll the world, hell even a romantic musical with Catwoman pissed at herself for helping Batman against her animal instincts)

I was at the Portland show last night, had a delightful time! No notes. Would love to hear "Oh How We Drift Away" live someday (I guess that counts as a note).

Molly Carroll

very fucked up that he had a real knife.. i’d love to hear more of your thoughts on the show, i’m sure everyone else would too.

i had never heard of the guy before. not sure what is supposed to be funny about his shtick. made me more angry than anything. especially with the knife. it seemed like you were getting upset, but you’re so good at acting upset like on nite live that i thought maybe it was staged.

Tim Brooks

funny, i definietly knew that i would be entering an environment where he would try and get me off my game and fuck with me. so i was ready... but he did pull out a real knife which is just not cool. it's very very dangerous and unprofessional and in real time i was just processing how to keep myself from getting stabbed (again) he's a nice kid who seems to be trying something but it feels pretty reductive of Borat or Eric Andre. live and learn.

Tim Heidecker

what’s up with that matan even video you did? did you have any idea what it was going in? seems like you were ambushed. if the whole thing was a bit, good job, because you had me convinced you could be in danger! 😊

Tim Brooks

Show was great fun, no notes.

viva la Kyle, happy camping. Hoping the special guest in Dallas is Billy Ray Cyrus.

So curious to hear your thoughts on Joker 2 once you eventually finish! I actually enjoyed it - or at least I enjoyed the musical numbers. The way Todd Phillips basically went after people who idolized the first one was such a fascinating choice IMO. Love these updates - glad y'all are having a great time!
