Doug's Tour Diary Day 12: Grand Rapids
Added 2023-10-31 01:00:04 +0000 UTCSince we arrived in Grand Rapids a night early, I had a little free time, so I checked out the local skatepark. It was really cold out but once I got moving, it felt great, reminded me of growing up in the midwest and skating all winter long.
A bunch of people were fishing in the river behind the skatepark. When I was a kid I witnessed my uncle catch a coho salmon and club it to death when he pulled it onto the boat. Ever since then I thought this aint for me.
Grand Rapids was the best show of the tour. The crowd was awesome and when they give you good energy, you build off of it and it and everyone wins. It was nice to see this OHL head in the crowd too.
The local guest was awesome too, his name is Frankie Lapenna. Eric got him to stage dive and smash a desk, he went for it.
A dude from the crowd wanted to drink "coffee wine" from his shoe for some reason. Eric let him.
Detroit is tonight, excited to do my Ghettotech bit! Btw, I found some knockoff Beaver Nuggets but I'm afraid that Tim and Vic will get addicted.

I’ve have “put that ass up on the cross” in my head all day too. You’ve really ascended since the last time I saw you opening for t&e in 2018 or something. I’d love to see you do a longer set someday too!

2023-10-31 01:30:09 +0000 UTCMy hometown! That skatepark is legendary in the area. That grey cement building on the other side of the river in that picture is the fish ladder where salmon can swim up the rapids easier. I've watched lots of people jump off of it into the river.
