Larry Charles, Mark Proksch (Office Hours+ Episode 272)

It was a legendary morning with comedy legends Larry Charles who was officially allowed to talk about his new film “Dicks: The Musical” joining us for the first half of the show and Mark Proksch who was forced to endure two full hours of abuse from Tim, Larry and at times Vic. Then we forced Larry to watch Phil Braun’s disastrous Kramer audition (54:23). PLUS a surprise phone call from Neil Hamburger (1:13:09). Starts @ 1:38.

Game Night is BACK this Saturday 10/21 at 6pm PT (9pm ET) with the full Holy Trinity for PATRONS ONLY! Keep an eye out for an exclusive YouTube link and Zoom room link back here on the Patreon later that day.

Go see DJ Douggpound open up for Eric Andre on tour this fall! Get tickets for a show near you at ericandretour.com.

Comments

Such a great episode lololol, Mark is an absolute treasure. This whole episode just had me in tears ;D ;D ;D

Timothy Mclean

Holy shit maybe best ep ever! Mark is one of the best humans and he always makes me laugh my ass off. Larry is such a chill guy too + such a legend can't wait for y'all to have him back, plus that Baldwin creepfest was riveting lmfao was that a Vic creation?

Miguel

There’s a line in the movie about smallpox blankets that didn’t make me HATE it, but made me feel weird about an otherwise rock-solid flick. it was like gerwig betraying the limits of the movie’s politics. but i’m the only person i’ve seen talk about it sticking out so idk

turbinity

I wonder if Tim has talked to Brett Gelman, he's gone of the deep end...

Amine

Who is that in the CBD video? The dancing is fantastic

Kim McElderry

Larry is so great! Top shelf guest

Steve Purificati

Tim, tell me where you draw the line with Mark’s failure, it’s all a bad sign. Cause your friend don’t dance and if he don’t dance well, he’s no friend of mine 😒

lilula9

I'm not 100% sure who this Eric Clapton is

Peach Weber

Howdy. I mentioned I got dumped recently. And dude, Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations. Grab a copy! It will really help in a real way.

Brian Rooney

Whilst I know you guys are trying to be non-biased about the Israel - Palestine conflict, genocide isn't complicated. Leading genocide historians, many of them Jewish, and the UN and many third party organisations have been commenting for years that Israel is committing genocide, and now at a devastating level. It's heartbreaking. I think comedy has taken a different turn after the Hamas terrorist attacks. I recommend anyone to watch Bassem Youssef for comedic insight. It becomes less complicated in my view through his comedy.

Calum Alexander

Tim, how the heck was Bill Maher and Tommy Lee’s conversation on Beatle penis size predictions not discussion on this ep?!

James Scullin II

Phil- don’t listen to them, keep working on it!!

Dana

Yeah man fully come into his own in the Doug free shows. So great drops too!

Nick Grant

Vics interludes are on fire

Jimjim

Larry was great! his opinion on the Michael Richards thing was amazing to hear. he's such an insightful and articulate guy

Sam B

you should watch his netflix doc. he's a worldly dude

Sam B

Thank you soooo much Vic for the break vid, amazing

Matt Whittle

thanks but oooof the frame rate and quality makes this pretty unwatchable

Tim Heidecker

Tim, here’s Something Wicked This Way Comes - https://youtu.be/MEaGTwJrBKk

Stu Walker

Vic’s Stephen Baldwin clips were hilarious and terrifying

Oopie Doopie

Thank you, Mark

BO BRICKS

i want nothing more than for tim to know WE DO GET IT and we all look forward to Mark's appearance's on the show. there are few things so funny as the tension between Mark and Tim when they get into a bit.

nawtrobar

Such a great show. Can't wait for the next Oscar Special. And, I want to see Rachel Kaly on the show!!

golding

Good god, Vic's halftime show was insane. Thank you Vic!

Jacob Kruse

My goodness. That Vic cut at half time. I'm crying.

Travis McKinney

Glenn Greenwald from System Update and The Grayzone are my go-to for independent media. Well articulated and well researched content. Also Chris Hedges, so many good journalists out there. CNN is nothing but corporate state propaganda. MSNBC suspended all their Arabic anchors admist the Israel and Palestine conflict.

Zack Zack

shoutout to Vic Berger for that break video, Stephen Baldwin had me genuinely creeped out

Tyler Burnett

i thought it was sweet how much fun mark seems to be having on shadows. i haven't watched it, but I watched the scene with Gregg and would recommend from only that

skeletonmeat

What are these supposedly good reasons to just vehemently HATE Barbie?

Fight Haver

to be fair, it seemed like mark said that in the spirit of digging into bill maher's position - not his own feelings. he did vote for trump 5 times though so who knows..

skeletonmeat

that stephen baldwin bit is sooo uncomfortable to watch (but hilarious) great episode. peace and love peace and love

What makes these anti-woke comedians so successful is that people will often adapt their bad-faith framing in sincerity. You hear this in Mark's take on cancel culture; that it is "censorship" coming from the left wing. I reject this framing because it implies the victimization narrative by guys like Bill Maher or Joe Rogan are true. Larry essentially contradicts this by mentioning that Maher is absolutely allowed to just about say whatever he pleases without really any consequence to his career. And indeed this goes for guys like Rogan who have cranks and racists on their shows then goes on to complain that people complain about it. Is there a discussion to be had about the limits of free speech? Absolutely. But the reactionary crowd shouldn't be the ones driving that discussion. This default to free speech and censorship are really just rhetorical red herrings to distract from the fact that these, often very privileged comedians and pundits, just want to be free to say *whatever* they want without consequences. So they paint a very romanticized picture of speech before "woke" took over--as if America has ever been a bastion of free speech absolutism. Anyways, just my thoughts. With love and peace!!

Count Crackula

Awesome episode- had it all! Mark really shined ‘doing the Neutron Dance!’ 💫

Dana

I absolutely love Vic's break videos, they are genius. Hope you guys can make a compilation of all of them after he's cranked several out.

FerntFernt

Who released this?

Phil Braun

Also, it’s nice to hear a successful older Jewish celebrity with an empathetic view on Palestine, I was kinda hoping they’d avoid the topic today because I assumed Larry would be blindly pro-Israel. Refreshing to hear his actual humanizing of Palestinians and comparing their situation to that of native Americans here.

Brandon Jeffries

I like that real Tim is also mean to Mark 😂. I think I’m starting to understand how they arrived at their dynamic for On Cinema.

Brandon Jeffries

Mark is the best

Boognish

Maybe mark would have been truely comfortable on the porch 🤮🤮🤮🤮

Nick Grant

More Mark 😤💯

Miranda Thiessen

Excellent guests. Mark should be on more often.

Nathan grice

Terrence mallick

Phil Davis

I am the first to share my thoughts.
