I know, I know, the end of episode 3 is nowhere near THIS bad, but it still strikes me as a bit funny that a military craft would be so lax about cleaning up that all the various traces of Smith's activities throughout the episode would still be out in the open for Noriko to stumble onto. Like, okay, maybe the headbands were up in a corner where nobody goes... except for the fact that A GUY WITH A LIMP WAS TOTALLY UP THERE. But for me, it's that empty coffee box. They really don't have anybody whose job it is to clean up litter around this place?
Obviously, my REAL issue here isn't the presence of Smith Toren bric-a-brac around the ship, it's how hard episode 3 has to work to make this brand-new, never-before-seen character worth feeling bad about when he IMMEDIATELY dies. I'd really have helped matters if somebody'd had the presence of mind to at least introduce Smith back during the first two episodes. Even if he'd not actually started interacting with Noriko until episode 3, just having him be a familiar face already would have allowed the show to be a bit less comically blunt in letting us know to feel bad. And then I'd have had to come up with something ELSE to draw here, like maybe trying to wring a whole comic out of the fact that Smith's hair reminds me of Lufy from Gal Force for some reason.
