This is one of my other favorite season 1 episodes. I don't have many. LOL. I liked seeing Xander as a dark character.

2023-06-19 04:56:23 +0000 UTCAhh the infamous Hyena episode lol this is an interesting one..some people don't care for it but for me, it has a lot of iconic moments that make it an episode I always remember regardless of maybe its lower quality compared to the rest of the series. This is when the principal dies and damn they made his death rather grim. OMG the baby scene xD I had the same reaction that was so real. Also I really love the Willow and Xander scene in the library, it truly shows while his actions from being possessed were extreme and very heightened against Her and Buffy I still see it coming from his thoughts in some way meaning his crush for Buffy and his knowing Willow's feelings for him. It's small interesting character seeds for him quite early on. Sort of showing the darker sides of him to the audience through the possession. I just like the dialogue and music in that scene it's just intense and a highlight of the episode and a part that sticks out to me. I love Willow's control there. Also when it comes to vampire slayers she is a chosen one type thing, so when one dies another one comes along like reincarnation so Buffy is the only slayer. Overall though I found the idea of animal possession kinda silly but like you pointed out I do appreciate how Buffy always tries to aim for creativity when it comes to its villian's. Of course not all of them hit but im happy they try anyways. Officially halfway through season 1! you've gotten through some of the roughness I really cant wait for the next reaction so excited!

I'm surprised you did not mention again how the hyena enclosure was barrely blocked by the end when it's revealed the zookeper is a Primal. It did seem so unsafe and it makes sense at the end that the zookeeper did not put a gate or something more effective to prevent anyone from entering. To this day, I still can't believe they ate the principal... what a way to go... RIP Principal Fluttie. The scene with the woman and the baby is so unsettling and scary. The acting from the actors who played the kid is really good and convincing. The dodgeball scene is brutal... You make a good point about the psychological trauma of the possession and what it made them do. These kids became cannibals murderers, how do you recover from that? Giles should look for a way to erase their memories... It's not one of my faves either but it has really iconic moments that you just can't forget (granted, I rewatched the show a few times). Buffy has a great lore when it comes to the supernatural, they're really using well the whole Sunnydale being on the mouth of Hell. I can't wait for your next reaction.

XDDD "You know what the say: 90% of the vampire slaying is waiting" is actually a reference to the saying "90% of acting is waiting". Yes, it does happen that vampires can lose and gain strength sometimes for plot related reasons, LOL! All of us are with you in your opinions about Owen, by the way. Ep. 6: I think the image had a couple of seconds of delay. Oh, in the version you're watching the flashing on Xander's eyes has been eliminated? Why?? Is there a way you can find the original 4:3 version instead of the 16:9 one? It's fine if you can't, I just think the experience will be more enjoyable. The leather jacket thing got me laughing so much!! XDDDD I guess Xander didn't wear it because even if you turn into a villain you need to find the time to go shopping :P Yes, the repercussions for the victims of hyena possession are treated very lightly in this episode. Not only for the students who ate the principal, but also the possession itself is a highly traumatic act of violation that is not addressed at all. Xander was supposed to feel like a rape victim, but instead the show puts the blame on him for his behaviour while possessed. Thank you so much, Liam!!
