What a blast last night at the Video Archives Cinema Club!!! Exploitation Double Feature screening hosted by Matt Landsman of AMERICAN COMMANDOS and DELIRIUM. Both films featured and insightfully discussed by QT, Roger, and Gala on past episodes of the Video Archives Podcast.

Gregg Simon

The first movie I saw in the theaters was “victim” starring Paul Newman in 1982 when I was seven. My father took me. Strange choice by my father but he is a physician not a movie aficionado.

John Imperio

Pancho Villa was so much fun.

Paul Rowlands

Awesome, thanks!

“Gymkata” directed by Robert Clouse

What is the “Jim Cotta”(?) movie talked about on this episode?

TCM did a great segment regarding “This is where we came in” with Spielberg and Scorsese. Still think it’s a weird concept and don’t see it coming back, but fun generational history! https://youtu.be/Lvg_d1ixLU8?si=Wq4c_fNQ2xqvEeA2

The Lake Show

was thinking the very same thing when the phrase came up. The title song is one of my top Bee Gees faves.

Craig & Friends

What a great show that was. Really made me laugh out loud during the American Commandos plot discussion! 😂😂😂

Duncan

Favourite Disney movie - Blackbeard's Ghost..

Gary Armstrong

On "This is where we cam in," I admire David Lynch's decision not to provide chapters on DVDs of his films as a way to discourage fragmented viewing. But I also have great memories of flipping channels in the 1970s/80s and catching pieces of movies that I loved and simply didn't have a way to play on demand.

Andrew Hageman

I've always loved how in their twilight, the Bee Gees released an album called THIS IS WHERE I CAME IN, and one of the songs was called "Technicolor Dreams" and has a lyric that says, "I'll give you Panavision pictures".

Marc Heuck

Loved hearing about QT’s son’s first movie! As a parent, I absolutely love sharing movies with my kids. There’s nothing like seeing them watch something I love for the first time. The first movie I saw in the theater was The Lion King. My grandpa took me & to this day loves to tell people that as we walked out I said “I loved Scar hehehe” 😂

Britt

LOVED this episode, AMERICAN COMMANDOS sounds like my jam, I will be watching it tonight!

Gerardo Preciado

Seeing Franco Guerrero as a bad guy just hurt my heart.

Jeremy Mullins

My guesses for next week: 1. THE SUBSTITUTE (1996) 2. NEVER SAY GOODBYE (1956) 3. PANCHO VILLA (1972)

Paul Rowlands

Great stuff! Quote of the show.. "He has a friend in Interpol".... that does not redeem your description of the plot, "he has a friend in Interpol" hahha

Mike Kenny

My guess for the third one : Pancho Villa with Telly Savalas

Julien Amara

I think the first film next week is The Substitute by Robert Mandel.

Fritz

Someone needs to clue Quentin in on how Power Rangers (at least the TV show) has always been a Frankenstein monster of adding American actors and content around Japanese Super Sentai/tokosastsu footage. I know the first film I saw in theatres was Disney's Peter Pan. I think I'd seen all of the 66 Batman on TV beforehand though. That's the only full movie I have memories of pre-4.

Looking forward to this! Tuesdays are now my favourite day!
