ANIMATING AGAIN!

Thank you for letting me take a bit of a sombre tone in my previous update. The end to 2024 has been challenging, but I'm so glad that the graphic novel is done, and that my drive to finish 18 hand-drawn illustrations for sale (while travelling, no less!) was a success. Here are some of my faves from the batch...
Big thanks to patrons like Harry Ashfield and Magma Muncher/Jonathan Peterson who bought some (and anyone else who I may have missed!).
As fun as it is to draw with real ink (and all the imperfections it produces), these sorts of things are always a stop-gap to help pay the bills, and I'm very relieved to be returning to animation...
Telling entertaining, funny stories with my art is my greatest aspiration, and I'm thrilled to be working on the next animated release.
I know I have some very overdue animated shorts that need to some love and attention (Dr Bees 4 and Starbarians 4). My *current* plan, is to release the 9-minute long Doctor Bees Forever, some time in February or March 2025. but I'm going to spend the rest of December toying with a different mini-animation I'll share more about on here, very soon. As I've teased here recently, I am really excited about some potential time-saving animation methods that I want to take for a serious test drive.
I'll be sure to check in with you all before Christmas and let you know how it's going!

2024-12-16 12:25:42 +0000 UTCHaha yea well, there's always scenes where good ol' frame by frame is still the most sensible way to go (mainly the action stuff) but usually the gut feeling is correct about this ;) I'm on my own first proper "hybrid" project now (full short instead of just tests) and even just resculpting inbetweens instead of redrawing them helps immensely a lot of the time.

2024-12-15 20:54:46 +0000 UTCIt was 2022 that work began on it! So crazy that it was paused for Ghostbleed and the graphic novel...all while Starbarians 4 was sitting unfinished too. I am very grateful for all the patience I'm afforded, but I want to do better and make more. I am going to give it my all in 2025.
