This ending, when peter biffed it, when Rand met his sister at the end, and when Jay was commanded to kill Gillian and he just smiled, are all the most emotional moments ive had listening to this pod. Fuckin sobbed at the part when Gillian took off his chestplate and went down w a smile.

2022-08-11 18:03:43 +0000 UTCI have genuinely no words *proceeds to rant for multiple paragraphs* I got Patreon 3 days ago, and I knew, before I did anything, that I had to binge apotheosis. My listening experience may have been affected by the fact that I had some spoilers (angelstone canon, peters death, etc) and by the fact that I didn’t have to wait between episodes, but I don’t think that I would have enjoyed it any less. Truthfully, I was worried when I started this campaign that I would get bored. Thinking back now that was absolutely insane of me, but I tend to lose interest in battles both when I play and listen to dnd, and a lot of times in short-ish campaigns like this they’re very combat heavy. In my opinion, this campaign WAS very combat heavy, and yet I never got tired. The way all the characters bounce off each other, the way you guys can bring life and humor into every story you tell, and the epic one-liners you deliver during battles kept me invested. (There was many times during battles with the gods when I thought it was the final blow and I’d just go “PLEASE SAY THE LINE (HDYWDT?)” and then he didn’t. I’d get upset not because the battle was continuing but because I was rooting so hard for the godslayers and I was so excited for them to win) Watching all the characters develop was so heartwarming. In the beginning Rumi and Thanatos’ dynamics directly opposed each other and Peter always seemed caught in the middle, too anxious to “pick a side,” as it were. Normally, with a dynamic like this, interactions between the party become stagnant and hostile and nothing really gets done without a fight, yet somehow you kept that from happening, keeping the story and characters both flowing and entertaining. And their ideals all changed so much in a truly beautiful way. (All of this tangent I’m about to go on is obviously just my interpretation of the events and may be a bit off-base, but I did my best) Peter gained so much confidence throughout the story, from accepting a life of pain to fighting for a world of hope. His way with dealing with people, seeing the humanity in everyone, even the gods, made me feel so fuzzy more than once. (Charlie, you always know the exact right line to say to hit you right in your feels or your funny bone. Every word you speak to the other characters grabs my attention) Elena needed to be perfect, and he had been trying for so long to no avail. When she found the harp blade and got her visions, she thought she’d be able to find perfection in a world someone else had created for her, in a body someone else had created for her. In the end, though, they realized perfection isn’t what they needed. What they needed was love, and, with help, they found that in Peter, Thanatos, and eventually themself. (Grizzly, you always describe things so vividly, it makes the story truly come to life. My heart beat spiked every time you explained a spell cast flavor or described their facial expressions) Thanatos saw himself as only a tool, but Peter and Elena saw him as much more. Even though Peter usually agreed with Elena, he always did hear out his side and understand what he wanted. When Peter gave him that rock, he felt cared for for the first time. When Peter was slain, he felt guilt for the first time. And when Peter sealed him away, he felt peace for the first time. Side note: Thanatos, if my memory serves me right, never hugged anyone throughout the campaign. He sometimes attempted reassuring pats, but they were always stiff. People hugged him, but he never reciprocated. Except on the very last one, when they said goodbye. You have no idea how much that means to me (Bizly, your characters are a pretty mixed bag, and you should take that as a compliment. Each one has such vastly different demeanors, goals, and beliefs, and yet you are able to pull it off flawlessly every time) And of course I can’t forget this amazing world. Condi, your skills are ones I cannot put into words. You built the landscapes that they explored, you played off the bits that they made, you made each of your characters personable with the others. You told the story that these characters lived, and I cannot thank you enough for that. I think I’ll finish up my rambling. It’s currently one o’ clock in the morning for me and there’s a good chance none of this is coherent, but if there’s a small chance any of you do see this, i will cherish these 15 episodes forever <3

I know the feeling of having to fight twice as hard to get your creative energy out, and the doubts about what you’re creating sometimes feel insurmountable. But despite all that, you still made THE most moving, funny, and inspirational story I’ve ever heard. Credit to the other JRWI boys, you played the characters phenomenally, but Condi, you made the story that allowed them to exist. Thank you for telling your story. Thank you for every aspect of yourself and your creativity that you poured into this. This show is one I’ll come back and listen to over and over again because it is, truly, that good. You are and always will be a massive inspiration in everything I creatively do. Keep it up king ❤️

This is definitely something I will come back to listen to again, it was hilarious, emotional, and all around just amazing. I hope to see more of Condi as DM, as long as he's up to it. This campaign was absolutely fucking phenomenal, and I can already tell it’s something I’m going to listen to over and over again. Everyone’s characters and how they interacted and grew over the course of the campaign were such a treat, when I first started listening to it I never expected to care so much about each one of these godslayers. But most of all I’ve been consistently blown away by Condi’s incredible storytelling and I absolutely cannot wait to see any and everything he does next.

But I laughed out loud, held back tears, and stifled screams from this finale. I have to say it was an epic conclusion to everything so far. I am so happy for being a Patreon member. Imagine saying goodbye to your best freind to let them sit on a box for eternity then having to remove your own memories. Why are these 4 so good at telling incrediblye heart wrenching stories. Whenever something I love ends, I end up bawling. This was no acceptation. I wish we could have these characters forever, but that would make them no longer special, and characters. Congratu-fucking-lation Condi, and the boys on making the funniest, yet most heart wrenching story ever made.
