Slimecicle's Super Secret Mythborne DM Notes
Added 2021-03-01 19:00:05 +0000 UTCHEY GUYS IT'S ME SLIMECICLE, YOUR RESIDENT INSANE MAN. AS YOU CAN SEE, I DID A LITTLE BIT OF WORK FOR THIS SESSION. The first thing you'll notice is a little drawing I did of what I imagine Sigil City is like! I'm not going to say anything else, I wanna see how you interpret what's there... City of Mist's system posed some unique challenges in DMing this one-shot, and I had to study A LOT. I made a flow chart of the different depths of the mystery, and unique settings and dangers for each of them. I also made a timeline, since all of the events the mystery are about have already happened! This is important for consistency in the world, character's reactions, and a great reference for giving hints. The whole setup has already happened! It's up to the party to unravel it and see it resolved! You'll notice there's a section here the party didn't even see - The Dean's Office! It was a lot of fun coming up with loose clues present in a scene and thinking of creative ways to improv around the party's actions to reward them with information. The last thing I want to mention is the variety of ways this session could've gone - the final confrontation could have happened in almost any setting depending on what the party chose to do, but honestly IT COULDN'T HAVE GONE MUCH BETTER THAN IT DID. You'll probably notice some details not in the notes, they were either on one of the billion sticky notes I had or completely made up on the spot. I'd be very excited to return to this setting because I've spent a ton of time building it, and I hope that you aspiring DMs out there find inspiration in these notes somewhere!
