I always felt that this episode really showcased that, you get to see why he became what he is and the guilt that eats him alive. I agree that the scene with the shotgun is very chilling. I think this is where I first started to appreciate Reiner. Such a good episode.

Reiner was actually the one who ran after Ymir ate Marcel and Annie & Bertolt chased him. Hence her saying he beat her in a long distance run cause he usually was the slowest one but his fear pushed him. But yeah Annie kicked some sense into Reiner and he knocked her out. Which made sense cause I always wondered why she never attacked the walls with Reiner & Bertolt, she hadn't showed up until years later. Mr. Atkins nailed the Annie/Kenny scene. Pieck is the Cart Titan Chilling seeing Reiner so ate up with guilt that he almost ended his whole life. But he chose to stay to help out the kids. He really would rather die than go back to Paradise and fight again in that moment. They never meant to bond so much with Eren & crew so their own betrayals bit them in the asses. Reiner still never forgave himself and seeing that he did this for his mom is sad. He wanted his mom to be free and back with her Marlian lover but he moved on and had another family. And Honorary Marlian or not that man would've been killed either way for sleeping with an Eldian. Reiner really sees alot of himself in Falco & Eren so he is pushing to help Falco because he has been in his shoes and thinks Falco can do better than he did.
