It’s not exactly a hidden detail 🤷🏼♂️ They make it obvious in the episode that Juliet kisses Jack as a kind of one way act, it takes him by surprise somewhat. Jack has always liked Kate, we have three seasons worth of evidence and not only does he say it straight up (to Kate’s face) in this episode “because I love you” but he also doubles down on the fact when saying “that’s why I told you not to come back for me” (because I wanted to protect you). It also somewhat proves Juliet’s point from earlier in the season too... that Kate essentially broke Jack’s heart, because he felt those feelings were reciprocated.
