Daytona 24 Hours 1968 - Ferrari 250LM #34

For the WSC60's Ferrari 250LM.

Chassis 6107 originally started out its life as a street car, sort of. Owner Steven Earle used to "daily" it for over 3 years in California, while also entering the 14,000 dollar car in street races of questionable legality. One thing that set the car aside from other 250LM's was it's unique darker shade of red.

It wouldn't be until January of 1968 that the car finally saw racing action, being entered in the 1968 Daytona 24 Hours. Despite being a 4 year old car by this point, the 250LM saw a revival thanks to the new ruleset for top level prototypes. The big Ferrari P4's were out, Enzo's factory team abandoned the WSC, leaving a surprising amount of privateers to pick up the pieces and race their antiquated 250LM's for one more season.

This one, driven by two Ecuadorian drivers and one American, did quite well with the support of RaceCo of Miami. In fact, they finished in 8th overall and took the sportscar class win. The car received a respray to yellow for Sebring where it failed to finish. Attempting Daytona one last time in 1969, once again failing to finish and putting an end to 6107's very brief racing career.

Thanks to Rodger for his RaceCo logo.
