This episode you learn how Jack’s dad Began to relapse and drink again. Jack’s ex said his dad called to try and help him and was “so drunk”. This caused Jack’s dad to drink again which eventually caused the surgery incident and losing his license. This this why Jack’s mom in season 1 told Jack he had to go to and get his father back after what he did to him (caused his drinking problem). Wonderful writing and very sad, tragic. The “is she happy” after that flashback always gets me teary eyed too.
