Re: hits different I think she means Karlie or another girl (not herself) and here’s why: in the lines prior she establishes her MASTERY of grammar. She says we don’t need another metaphor - then brilliantly follows it with a simile, instead!!! Technically, grammatically, after that based on sentence structure- she is the one the lyric “dream girl” would be referring to, in terms of subject object grammar rules. I feel like it was intentional by our “mastermind.”
