Alright, so what's with that Geronimo thing?
Added 2025-04-18 00:29:25 +0000 UTCThe fact is that I'm in a shit financial situation and am still crawling my way out of the pit I dug for myself. I'm still hopeful that YouTube will reinstate me into the partner program, if you've got the time then bothering them on Twitter would be nice. I'm starting a podcast with friends as well, I'll share that soon.
All the same, you should know how I'm spending my time. I'm eager to do a longer historical project, and the Geronimo one was about half-completed when personal issues had to take a front seat. I'm finishing moving all my books at the end of the month, and will resume production on that video then.
I can't promise a release date, but I can say that I just did a rewrite to the introduction, so rest-assured it's not something I've lost interest in. The video will, in fact, center around James Baldwin, specifically his quote: "People are trapped in history, and history is trapped in them."
The video will cover the Apache-American wars and will discuss themes of sacrifice, violence, and how our environment shapes us. Like with The Mad God of the Yucatan, I want to take a historical figure who is niche but controversial and make them feel complex and real. I approach history from a very individual perspective, and this project has already shaped up to be something of a statement on that.
I appreciate your patience and support as always, you've helped make a difficult time far easier. I know the recent content has been something of a departure, but gaming stuff is coming soon, and history not long after.
Adele lyrics of the day:
"There ain't no gold in this river
That I've been washing my hands in forever
...
Go easy on me, baby
I was still a child
Didn't get the chance to
Feel the world around me
I had no time to choose what I chose to do
So, go easy on me"
I can't believe I've been doing this for five years. Do you have any earthly idea how fucking stupid I was five years ago? I can't wait to learn how stupid I am today, and I hope you're there to see as well.
I've been threatening to hit half a million subscribers for quite some time now. It happening during this period of transition and struggle seems apt (if indeed, it does happen). Thanks for being here.
Thanks,
DJ PC
