Added 2018-02-01 22:47:52 +0000 UTCOne of the reasons I needed a redux of the book was to change the tone a bit, skewing towards a more serious tone to show the stakes for the sake of emotional investment. The jokey tone of the first version made people think that the transformation wasn't a big deal, so I made it a big deal in this new version.
This is more in line with what I had originally wanted for the story anyway, as I had censored myself before because of the unexpected success of MEN+MONSTERS' lighthearted, humor-heavy story. I thought that humor was all people wanted from my stories, but I realized towards the end of the first book that Ace of Beasts had unused potential for the emotional depth I originally wanted.

This scene looks intense, and yeah sometimes we can miss certain feelings we want to pass on situations characters are on, etc. So It's a nice thing that you are doing the changes you want to now! Of course I like the lighthearted and the humour on the stories a lot, but It's good to also see these serious and more "focused" moments.
