GLEE 02X14 REWATCH PARTY

Comments

Something really interesting about this is Darren Criss was in the very beginning of Katy Perry’s last Friday night music video. He comes in and says best party ever woohoo! And not only does he say that here in this episode, but he also gets to seeing last Friday night later on in the show.

Sara Marsh

Blame it on the alcohol is underrated for Mercedes her vocal choices ate and she didn’t give a belt moment in the whole song—- ALSO the scene right after that song we saw examples of what Finn was telling Rachel about types of drunk. I never noticed that.Rachel was being clingy with Mike. Santana was overly emotional. Quinn was being confrontational with me. Schue. Etc

Aaron williams

I’ve said for a while that I would’ve LOVED if they made Sam bi. I mean…. 6 seasons and no bi male representation? I think it would’ve worked.

Lauryn Shealy

Oh my God that’s so possible! I totally forgot about the Oreos!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Yeah, my experience over here has been very open towards the transgender community

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Now that I think of it, did we ever get a bi male character?

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Blaine seems very grown-up for his age and self-aware

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I definitely agree with you. I always felt Kurt and Santana were a lot more alike than people realized, and both tend to lash out when the person they love seems to be drifting away or being ‘taken’ by someone else, especially someone someone of the opposite sex. You can see their maturing and growing more comfortable of themselves in later seasons when their reactions generally mean they stop attacking others (except Season 6 which I was a little pissed off when the writers had Kurt messing up Britt’s proposal and then Santana tearing him down so hard - it felt very out of place given their very established friendship at that point) but generally they have their shit more together and don’t feel threatened by the thought of bisexuality like they do in Season 2

I bet a lot of people froze the screen to see in details their rooms. It tells so much about that character

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Totally true with the bi men stigma much stronger. Such an odd thing to be sides on

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Unfortunately, biphobia runs rampant in the LGBTQ+ community. There's a LOT of gay and lesbian people who look at bisexual people and think that they're just confused, or they're not "gay enough" because they still have opposite sex attraction, and it sucks. It's a shame that there's still so much division under the rainbow. In relation to the show- I don't usually like Blaine but I loved him for calling out Kurt for his comments because he really was out of line. That was a time where his outside thoughts should have stayed as inside thoughts. I thought it would have been nice to have a bisexual man on the show, because when the time this came out (at least in my experience where I live) it was much more stigmatized to be a bi man vs a bi woman. People acted (and still do tbh) like it was bad to be bi if you were a man, and I think that representation on the show could have been really beneficial.

Yeah, this isn’t Kurt’s finest moment. I don’t consider the character to be biphobic because we never seen it before and we never see it again, and I get that he was scared to lose Blaine as a gay mentor and potential boyfriend but that in no way excuses what he said. I really wish the episode had ended with his apology instead of him just standing there. Side note; I love when we get to see the characters homes! It’s a nice break from the school and it’s fun to see elements of their personalities in their rooms.

Selma Jabr

I get that. I just wish that Kurt at least apologized to Blaine about how he reacted. He didn't have to admit he was wrong, because a teenager wouldn't notice how they reacted was bad.

Re-watching this, I had a different feeling about Kurt's biphobia. It's been brought up as problematic but at at the same time, that DOES exist in the queer community. Blaine called him out on it, so it was addressed. It doesn't feel like his mind was really changed. It was a seed planted, though. 2025 Kurt would be in his 30s and would probably have opened his mind. It's easy to critique in hindsight but the show exists in a fixed time period.

I always kind of felt like it would be great if they let Blaine's character be bi. It would make the Tina storyline in season 4 a little better from Tina's end, since she wouldn't be interested in a gay man. Doesn't excuse other things she did, but that'd beside the point. Also, I think it would have been so cool to have Blaine be bi, but he still ends up with Kurt.

Turnip Crazy

Yeah, I also grew up in the Midwest (though, years before this show takes place). I'm sure I had gay/bi classmates, but nobody was really open about it. I guess back then it was even less acceptable to do so. Lack of exposure can definitely make things feel more fake. Like something you'd only heard of or seen on TV but had no proof actually existed. I remember being very confused the first time a coworker I had told they were making gifts for both the girl they liked and the boy they liked. They were both bisexual and poly. Which was a whole new world to me, lol. I'd only ever dated one person at a time and just couldn't wrap my head around it. But, just because I don't fully understand it doesn't mean I can't respect and accept it

Jennifer Lawrence

Yep, I think especially when we're young we often see things as very black and white. And struggle when something doesn't really align with one way or the other. It was definitely a learning experience as I grew older finding out there's so much more than even just straight, gay or bi. Even I've never fully labeled where I fit on that spectrum. I just leave myself open to "go with the flow". I've only ever had boyfriends, but, calling myself completely straight doesn't feel right either. I guess the beauty is nobody can force you to decide and stick with it. If you find something doesn't feel right or your feelings change.

Jennifer Lawrence

As a young tween I too would get a similar feeling when my sister started to date girls as well as guys initially I was confused, because I never knew that people could like both. It just didn't compute with how I thought relationships work. Now I can't help but cringe and Kurt's behavior towards Blaine while he's figuring out if he might actually be bi.

Turnip Crazy

Saw an article recently about the thai government investing 145 million baht to fund hormone replacement therapy. Absolutely amazing.

Alex Foster

The prefix pan- means “all”, “of everything” and it’s of Greek origin. I definitely think that Kurt and Santana both just have a lot of insecurities around their sexualities and when the objects of their affections even glance at the opposite gender they freak out and it looks like biphobia. Blaine and Brittany are both so comfortable and open with their sexualities and it scares Kurt and Santana. Blaine is so open to exploration and that concept is so foreign to Kurt and what he doesn’t know scares him and since he likes Blaine he takes it personally even though it has nothing to do with him. They are also young and in a small Midwest town, so they have a lot of growing up to do and broadening their horizons will help immensely.

Annie Willow

Hah, maybe. Rachel basically mixed together everything she had on hand so unsurprising it ended up a weird color.

Jennifer Lawrence

I thought the grey was a mix of the kool aid and cough syrup? But yea oreos mixed with that too makes sense it'd be a greyish colour.

Alex Foster

Yep fully been there myself. It hurts me ears hearing the bi erasure now.

Alex Foster

Also I'm guessing maybe it was supposed to be grey from Oreos? Not sure lol. But, I kind of appreciate it as it makes it look less like real vomit. Vomiting on TV/movies tends to trigger me to do it myself.

Jennifer Lawrence

I hate Kurt's bi erasure, but, I also had a somewhat similar mentality when I was younger. I guess because I just couldn't understand liking both. Turned out I was just confused myself like Blaine, lol.
