so these 2 guys are OG first gen kpop. Brian debuted with a r&b duo called Fly to the Sky under SM and Joon debuted in a r&B/rap group called G.O.D. under (eventually) JYP. (JYP was their main songwriter even before JYP Entertainment existed) and both groups in 1999. Fun little fact.....the reason why kpop idols for the most part aren't allowed to date is bc of Joon. It got publicized that he was dating an actress and there was some public outcry and the company actually kicked him out of the group. His fans and fellow groupmates staged like an 8 day long sit-in/strike to protest and he was put back into the group. He has this very famous press conference where he's crying with his mom by his side just saying "I'm 32! I'm 32!". He jokes about it now and it's a meme in korea but at the time it was HUGELY scandalous
