"Perhaps the easiest way to become a God is by eradicating humanity! A very unique path but an easy one!"

'... Is this really the heroic Vampire King?'

For a second, he felt like the author of this book was not the Vampire King from the scripture of Bravery. The two were different.

Berto felt like his head was aching after reading the book so he decided to stop.

'I feel like my mental energy is getting consumed every time I turn the page.'

One thing was sure, this book was not simple. Perhaps it was one of the reasons why it was protected here in the Ancient Library.

He closed the book and massaged his forehead. Every word inflicts pain in his brain as if he should not read the book.

'Perhaps my Term Attribute and Backlash help me. My resistance against mental pain is stronger.'

With that thought, Berto Alb stood up and returned the book to the bookshelf in his office.

The Ancient Library had millions of books. Some of the books are over 10 thousand years old. As for the books and scrolls that the Council Of Torment, they were not even 1/10 of the overall contents of the Ancient Library. Still, some of these books and scrolls were important.

'Thankfully, time has changed and the invention of the computer saved us...'

Berto pulled something out of his pocket. It was a tiny USB. It had a list of the books and scrolls that were stolen.

'However, some of the books can't be copied. There's a special power that protects them. Most of them were protected by Runes.'

The Council Of Torment definitely got important information from those special books.

Well, there was no time to regret. In the first place, The Council Of Torment was a slippery organization and it was impossible to locate them. No one knows the truth about this terrorist group.

Even Junian and Dellia could not eradicate The Council Of Torment. It showed how strong this organization was.

While he was thinking about his situation, someone knocked on his door and caught his attention.

"Come in."

"Sir, we found a spy on the campus... She said that she has something to say to you."

Berto frowned before frowning.

"Call her."

A few minutes later, a woman who was in handcuffs entered the office.

Berto was already reading the woman's information. Apparently, the spy was actually a Professor at the University and she was hired because of her extreme knowledge of History.

'... This is suspicious. She easily passed the hiring requirements.'

"Professor Iris Fannie. Is that your real name?"

"That's right." Professor Fannie nodded.

Suddenly, the temperature rose up and the woman felt like her skin was melting. This only lasted for a second but she realized that she was sweating a lot.

"I was wondering where Principal Lycan went, I guess I didn't have any reason to worry anymore. Looks like you are strong enough to protect this city."

Professor Fannie grinned, although her whole face was pale.

"You have a good work ethic. Except for your antics for being a Lesbian, you're a good teacher. Tell me, are you really a spy?"

Berto could interrogate the woman through torture but he felt like there were hidden reasons why someone like Iris Fannie showed her true identity.

'She has been a Professor in this university for almost a decade now. Yet she only showed her abnormality right at this moment. Why? Why now?"

"If you're curious, my background tells that I'm an orphan. But I'm actually from Dellia. They trained me from a young age. I worked hard and studied hard, just to get enough credentials to enter this University. That's my mission."

Perhaps that was the reason why they didn't find anything odd about the woman. Because she was already a spy at such a young age.

Berto knew that there was more to it.

"My mission is to gather information about Horvart University. That's all there is to it. However, I received a new mission."

"From the looks of it, you're intentionally showing your real identity because you want to contact me... A negotiation?"

"That's right. My country only gave me one mission, I hope you can think of it seriously before making a decision."

"... Go on."

Berto Alb lost all his trust in the government after everything. He felt like it was useless to be patriotic towards a country that fucked its own citizens.

"Then, my mission is--"

.........

......

...

"How many casualties?"

Esmeralda listened to General Romoel who was responsible for reporting information about the battlefield.

"The border near Alehantos, we lost over 100 thousand soldiers."

"At the southern colonies, near the Forest Of Death, the damage was severe and two of our routes were blocked. We estimated that we lost around 1 million soldiers in that location..."

General Romoel started listing every casualty in the war. Every time he said the quantities, his face became solemn.

The Blood Moon two years ago killed millions of people and it was devastating.

But the war was a different breed. They were basically pushing the soldiers to their deaths.

"Hm, you can leave now."

Esmeralda kept her cold expression.

For a second, General Romoel wanted to ask about the well-being of his son but he felt like the President was not in the mood to speak.

He left the office and gave Esmeralda the time to digest the information.

The woman stood up and went to the bathroom. She found the sink and threw up. The sound of her gagging echoed in the bathroom.

A few minutes later, she breathed in and looked at herself in the mirror. Her eyes wavered before they returned to their usual focus. She wiped her lips.

There was no reason to falter. From the moment she lost her family, she was ready to raise hell on the surface of the planet.

If the only way to get her revenge was by winning the war, then she wouldn't hesitate to do it.

She knew that she was going crazy. The fact that her youngest daughter was alive yet she couldn't find her shattered her heart.

"Don't worry... Once this is over, I will offer you peace. Junian will be no more and you can live peacefully."
