She listened with rapt attention as Joel told her of things that seemed fantastical to a girl that grew up in a world so different to the one Joel described. The light of their lantern bridged the distance between them, keeping them connected as the darkness encircled them.

It all starts with the setting. The cityscape feels like a veritable wonderland. I don't know why, exactly, but I feel a sense of awe and wonder when I see those buildings in the background. Personally, I think it has everything to do with the sky. That cloudy, overcast sky filled with understated ambient light is a thing of beauty. In fact, it may just be the most beautiful sky I've ever seen. When I look at that sky, I think of sunrise. More precisely, I think of the short span of time shortly before sunrise, where the sky begins to lighten as night slowly fades away, and the sun hasn't yet breached the horizon. The birds are awake and singing, and the world feels shiny and new, like anything is possible.

Honestly, I don't think I have the words to describe how much I love this set of images. This may sound strange, but I think this set of three images may just be my favorite of all of the images you've created of Ellie and Joel so far.
