Full Length Reaction Guide
We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync. Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen. Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. I've only seen the first 1 and a half episodes so far and I feel the same. There are also some story elements I'm just not enjoying. I just think some of the parallels to the real world are a bit too on the nose and are getting kind of annoying to me. Granted, the show has never really been subtle about those kinds of parallels lol. I just hope it doesn't continue for the entire season because it's kind of taking away my enjoyment of the show a bit

2024-06-16 14:12:07 +0000 UTCI think there is a lot of misdirection going on and deeper themes that will reveal themselves later in the season. One of the traditional storytelling edits this show has repeatedly done is give us a direct reveal about one charcter then in the next sequence show another charcter who is experiencing the exact same thing or foreshadowing the second character's future. In the opening episode this plays out twice. The first time is how we see Butcher is talking to someone who is not there essentially it is a manifesting of his guilt over Ryan and his promise to Becca. We all know he is hallucinating because of the temp V but don't see the hallucination.. Later in the episode We then see the scene where Hughie is listening to his dad's message. Hughie is clearly internalizing his guilt and trying to make promises to overcome the regret. At the peak of that guilt ridden moment his long lost mother suddenly returns. We then cut to Butcher and his guilt which turn outs to be a hallucination of Becca. I dont think Hughie's mother is there in fact I dont think she is still alive. Now in a previous season when he explains his Billy Joel fashion he tells Annie it has to do with his mom and he says she isn't dead. However when you take a look at the character study of his father he is not a man who wants to talk about loss, guilt, emotion or anything meaningful likely this is a result of his own trauma which could have been the death or suicide of his wife. Therefore if Hughie's mom really died his father may never have actually told him or corrected him. Not to get too personal but when I was really young someone close to me died by their own hand. Now I knew something changed because they were gone. For whatever reason being super young I manifested an explanation. Since I wouldn't have really understood the truth everyone just went with it to avoid an explanation. Once I was old enough I learned the truth but the false memory existed for a long time until I fully processed the truth. I think that is what is happening with Hughie. I also think they are bracing us for the death of Butcher from Temp V but could shock us with the death of Hughie from his use of it.
