2024-06-13 02:05:00 +0000 UTCSO EXCITED TO SEE THIS POST!!! 🩵 Some thoughts: - Yabushige wanted to lead them to the gate so that they’d capture Mariko, they weren’t trying to kill her just kidnap her, that way Ochiba & Ishido manage to find a ‘loophole’ & avoid Mariko committing suicide or being allowed to leave Osaka - I think s1 of HOTD is paced the way it was because essentially it’s just giving us context & setting up the meat of that story, which I think is covered in s2, the Dance of Dragons & that whole family fight lol - while this is essentially the meat of this story s1 of Shōgun is paced more slowly & focuses on the political intrigue Like Pudgey mentioned, the thing about 3 hearts & Toranaga’s metaphors relating to his falcons—like how it uses the sun to hide & wait for the right time to attack, etc. Shōgun is about the unique society that is feudal Japan, & what it takes to win power & keep it there. So it’s interesting seeing a foreigner just plopped into this culture & having to navigate this complicated way of living 🤭 But yeah this was def Mariko’s ep! She was just amazing in this & I LOVED watching her stick it to Ishido haha Thanks for another awesome reaction u two! Love from nz 💕
