Personally would love to hear what your thoughts are on Raid Shadow legends. At one point I felt like every YouTube video I watched had a sponsor. The game was everywhere. To the point where I never even thought about downloading it because it was just constantly in my life.

On the podcast they explain why go is so bad. That is Laura's jam and she has a ton of stuff to say beyond just the egregious disability issues (stuff they included in the pandemic and took away). I am not a Pokémon player but the nature of their stuff is limited time Pokémon or shiny versions under ridiculous walking lengths that you cannot hope to achieve, like 50 miles. But also, I guess limited time events but you must finish whatever your currently hatching (?) to start on more. Meaning, you can walk 50 miles to hatch all of your current eggs to starting hatching new eggs or spend money but you need to do all of that in less than a week. You can possibly get a single egg with a very low probability of getting the shiny or you can pay money to unlock more hatching options, avoid the walk, buy eggs, and I guess something about balls. For a kids game for kids directed towards kids for children's entertainment. Laura so spoke about transferring them where you can move a few a week or pay a bunch of money. Marketed at kids for kids rated e for kids under 3. It does deserve its own show but if you haven't been manipulated, I bet you thought about it. It's impossible not to. You see something cool and want it. You just happen to say that it isnt worth the hundreds of dollars. I know this because this happens to me all of the time.

I was pretty disturbed by this. I have purchased one of these Mario sets to reverse engineer, because I'm particularly wary of how the updating system works, besides the obvious ethical issues described by JSS.

Pokemon Go probably is worth a video all of its own these days. For a few reasons, I don't have as much of a problem as you do with the de facto loot box mechanic outside of a handful of instances where they have injected a huge degree of FOMO into the mix. However, that's not to say your position isn't legitimate and, if you have an issue with that mechanic, there have been more recent developments with which you'd have an absolute field day.

I am so tired of the excuse that parents should be responsible. It has to be a partnership. A parent buys a toy for a kid and the parent does not expect that toy to include psychological manipulation. Parents should never be forced to expect that toys or other child interactions will be a manipulation to extract money. That is a bridge way too far.

Speaking as a parent I’m glad I don’t have one of these so I don’t have to explain to my child why am not helping them little plastic friend. Concepts of animacy and self-awareness very complicated and take a while to fully understand. I happen to know the children as old as seven sometimes need to be reassured that say animatronics don’t feel pain when they’re being repaired. There will be children hearing this who honestly think Mario is upset and their parents aren’t willing to help. That’s Sick.

OTA Updates should be a means for us to keep tech as secure as possible, with manufacturers able to instantly push out patches for security holes as they get noticed and fixed. Its a shame that OTA is primarily used to push "features" while devices are as insecure as ever. I sometimes think we'd be better off without the ability to update anything at a moments notice. Sure, bugs would go unfixed, but at least the tech that we supposedly own couldn't be turned against us at a later date without our consent.
