We Stand Alone Together (BoB Part 11)- Full Reaction

Hey guys! Here is the full reaction to the documentary “We Stand Alone Together”. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you so much to everyone who suggested this, it was so heartwarming to see more of these heroes and their perspectives. It felt like really nice closure to Band of Brothers for me. Their bond really was something special.

Thanks as always for the support, have a great weekend!

Thanks Cassie!! It was no big deal. Was just curious what had happened to it. Thanks for letting me know

brooke atkins

Just watched it. Thanks Cassie!

Brent Petty

Hey Brooke, give it another try. Just switched it over to YT and re-uploaded the original version. Sorry about that!!

Cassie

Hey Brent! Sorry for the delay on getting this one switched over. It should be working now!

Cassie

Says it's a private video. Trying not to complain, but this has been an issue with this video for months now.

Brent Petty

Nope still not working. Says it doesn’t exist.

brooke atkins

I don't know if you've tried this video again but it seems to be working fine now.

David Freese

Yeah bummer

brooke atkins

Still says it.

Brent Petty

What happened to this video? Says it doesn’t exist anymore?

brooke atkins

I know I’m late to this conversation but I’m so glad to see that you watched this episode.

maybe an idea for a complementary review the making of of BoB. it shows how far they went to get every detail of the mini-series right. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRfyq0VJ6QQ

Gregory Martin

I just wanted to point out that Paul "Buck" Rodgers is not the Buck from the series. That is Lynn "Buck" Compton who is also in this documentary. Hes the one who talks about landing on D day and having a candy bar with him.

JDP11

I see now. For some reason it didn't show up in the playlist. I loved this probably more than any of the others! Thank you!

Jamie van Brewen

They should be already! check the link right above

Cassie

Same question, are part 9 & 10 going to be uploaded??

R.BGames37

Hey Benjamin! I actually posted 9 & 10 a few weeks ago! Here's the link: https://www.patreon.com/posts/49998942

Cassie

Are we going to see parts 9 & 10?

Jamie van Brewen

Cassie, I hope you upload your reaction to Hacksaw Ridge, which is a great film! I love your reactions- so heartfelt and sincere! And you really pay attention without talking so much so you don’t miss anything. There is brotherhood in The Pacific, but it’s not the focal point. Tom Hanks’ father fought in the Pacific so I think he wanted to emphasize the suffering and sacrifice those men endured. I’ve watched it several times and it never fails to bring me to tears. Can’t wait to see your reactions!

Wow! It seems like The Pacific will be a new kind of war to watch. I can't imagine. I watched Hacksaw Ridge last night, and I have a feeling I got a taste of The Pacific. It was unbelievable! I'm a little worried that the "bond and brotherhood" part of B of B will be missing from this but like you said-this happened too and we need to hear and remember their stories as well, even if the "feel good" moments weren't there. Thank you as always for your thoughtful and knowledgeable comments.

Cassie

Splendid work on the whole story, Cassie. Can’t wait to see you do more.

Dan L.

That tune reminds me of the beginning of the Addams Family theme!

Catherine LW

What a pleasant surprise. Didn't know you were gonna react to this. Am I the only one who thinks the best scene in all 11 episodes is Babe singing Bridget O'Flynn? I like your San Diego shirt. Probably because I was born there

Paul Nevland

Since you seem to enjoy these mini-series based on true stories, I'm sure that you're going to do The Pacific (hope you do), but if you haven't watched Chernobyl, I would highly recommend that for an HBO Mini-Series.

Mr. Killeverything

Looking forward to your Pacific reaction! What those lads went through in that theatre of war is beyond comprehension. Extraordinary brutality, helplessness, suffering, dehumanisation and savagery mixed in with astonishing heroism, bravery and will to live. If I have one recommendation for a mindset in which to watch it for maximum effect, just imagine yourself in the shoes of the young men portrayed in the show and having to deal with the horrifying scenarios depicted.

Something is weird with Patreon comments. I wrote a lengthy comment about BoB and The Pacific and it disappeared after I edited it. Odd. Cassie, you said you missed Easy Co. That’s because you became a part of them! Same thing happened with me. They really did a great job in recreating the sense of the brotherhood of war with the viewers. The Pacific isn’t about that. The brotherhood exists among the men fighting together but the theme is about the dehumanization of war. The Marines faced a much different enemy. They didn’t adhere to the Geneva Convention, unlike how many Germans did. Allied POWs had a 40% death rate in the Pacific theater while it was less than 5% in Europe. The Japanese tortured and mutilated prisoners, which made the Marines start to hate them. They hated the atrocities they committed against civilians, and they hated how the Japanese used sneaky, underhanded tactics to kill the enemy, like pretending to surrender, then ambushing those who try to take them prisoner. They killed corpsmen (Navy/Marine term for medic) on purpose, even if the corpsmen were trying to help wounded Japanese. That mutual hatred dehumanized our men, and the question is, how do you regain your humanity when the war ends? This series addresses PTSD, and the return home to civilian life. The environment they fought was also an enemy. Tropical heat, venomous snakes, spiders, and scorpions, all kinds of stinging and biting insects, crocodiles, huge lizards, rats plagued the men. Diseases like jungle rot, malaria, dysentery and hepatitis were prevalent. At least in Europe, there was civilization outside the battlefield. On those islands there was nothing but ocean and jungle. The war in Europe was much better known than the war in the Pacific, and we owe it to these men who suffered and died to remember their stories.
