Last of the Mohicans (1992) - Full Reaction

Comments

I always took it that when he saw Chingachgook run up to him and the pain in his eyes that he saw he had become what he hated, so he accepted his fate, he barely even tried to fight back and the final blow he just stood there and took it.

Annie519

There was a massacre that he move similarly portrayed. It backed fired on the French and actually stiffened the resolve of the British Army and the colonist. They fought back during the war after the massacre with little quarter given.

Jason Mangen

Mann took a lot for the 1936 screen play by Dunne.

Jason Mangen

It took Uncas’s father all of 5 seconds to destroy Magua. I guess Magua was not such a badass as he thought.

Jason Mangen

Great movie for a surprise post! After seeing your reaction to the Patriot, I knew this would be one you would like. To me they give off similar vibes.

Adam Doyle

I know! It's such a shame, it's my favorite war film!

Annie519

I was so excited to see this re-uploaded, I never got the chance to watch your full reaction, only the youtube edit and I prefer the full reaction. This is probably my favorite war film, the cinematography is amazing, the music always gives me chills and the performances are top notch. I'm pretty sure that Daniel Day Lewis spent months living off the land, to feel like what it was for them back then, he's a method actor and in the end it pays off because he is so good. The last 10 minutes in my opinion is a masterpiece, the moment the music kicks in when they take Duncan away it's nonstop emotion. I love that he gets redeemed in the end, I think he saw Nathanial's love for Cora and probably did feel guilty for lying but was so prideful and jealous but also I think he knew she had a better chance at surviving with Nathanial then him and was doing what was best for her. It breaks my heart every time when Uncas dies because he's my favorite, he doesn't say much and I wish he had a little more screen time, along with Alice but he's just cool and you can tell he has a good heart and I love his and Nathanial's love for each other as brothers. And it's sad too because if he had just waited they could have gone together to save Alice and he would have had help, he had nothing other then his knife but he was so focused on getting to her. I love that little moment when he put his hand on his dad's shoulder, like he knew he might not live but he had to try. My favorite aspect of the film is the hidden romance between Uncas and Alice, it's one of those things that you don't even notice the signs until the end but if you go back and re-watch it you will see there were these little moments between them, obviously the big one is the waterfall. But did you notice before the waterfall she didn't have a braid in her hair and it's almost exactly like Uncas', I think that was a sign of intimacy and that really fits for his character. And they were supposed to have a love scene there also but the actress was 17 and her mother did not approve of it, which I understand but man we could have had something special between them, lol. But my favorite scene is that moment before Alice jumps, up until that moment Alice was a very sheltered and naive girl and rightfully so, she had never seen violence or this kind of blood shed and her innocence was kind of lost. And also up until then she's kind of been "weak", no fault of her own but she had but there she is strong, she doesn't know what's going on, doesn't know where her sister is and after seeing what Magua did to her love she won't stay with him and who knows what they would do to her so she chose to be with Uncas. Even Magua's heart softens and he lowered his knife. I've read the script, it was online a long time ago and it was written like a book and it said that she landed right beside him.

As a little native kid with long hair who grew up in the mountains in Arizona, Idk how many times my cousins and I thought we were Hawkeye, Uncas, and Chingachgook running through those trees. Haha I love this movie, honestly never knew you reacted to it already.

Ozzy

I think that this would be a great rewatch for both CRASH and COACH to watch together.

Uncle Phoenix

I can't wait to see this one!

Marvin Just Marvin

Please tell me, how does a long time member request a movie?

Celeste McAllister

There are a handful of older reactions that aren't available anymore because they were on Vimeo. We are slowly getting them all updated, which is why this one popped up on notifications!

Cassie

Great story I love Danny Day,history meets classic literature,so Cassie how does a long term top tier member go about requesting a movie?😎

Celeste McAllister

I watched this one like a year. I loved your reaction. One of your best. Well all of them are great Why did it pop back up? Just curious.

Zachary

Hope this is the right thread to say YAHOOO! I'm glad this reaction is available to watch now. Been hoping for this. Watching RIGHT! MEOW!

Would love for this video to be reuploaded?

Astraeos

:(

Chris H

What happened to this video?

warcrimes

You gotta watch "In the Name of the Father". True story, falsely accused, courtroom drama, and Daniel Day-Lewis. Criminally underappreciated movie!

SeanATX

I always love coming back to watch your reactions to Band of Brothers and Last of the Mohicans. Classic Cassie.

Uncle Phoenix

There is one film I would highly recommend since it was around St Patrick's Day as well. In the Name of the Father. It has Daniel Day Lewis and is one of his most powerful works next to My Left Foot. ( For which he won an Oscar)

GamerGal8684

The Last of the Mohicans is a great movie and so I think you didn't have any reason to get nervous, Chris. 😊

Chris LΓΌders

Super late comment but I'm a newbie patron so. Loved this, no one reacts to this movie and it's great. But, of course I had to chime in with a couple of tangentially appropriate suggestions, probably not new, but they are: HEAT, because it's the same director and it's awesome, two of the greatest actors ever, squaring off as cops and robbers. And. DANCES WITH WOLVES, because, Indians? No but I do love this long ass movie, and I love the extended version even more (that's like 4 hours) πŸ˜†

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Yes legends of the fall!

Zeke_Stone

Legends of the Fall although good should come with a free anti-depressant of your choice.

Michael Sutton

Cassie, you may want to checkout LEGENDS OF THE FALL, if you haven't before. Serious guilty pleasure. It is set in the early 1900s and is even more romantic than Mohicans. πŸ™‚ Amazing cinematography and musical score. While I think it would make for a good one, whether you do a reaction video or not for it ... I highly recommend a viewing.

This war is very nichΓ¨, even for us yanks. Anyone ripping you for not knowing much, if anything, for a Canadian, are idiots. People like me are ultimately delighted to meet someone who doesn’t know something and wants to learn what we know. I hope MattN would agree with this sentiment. I feel the same way about first time movie watches. 😏😏

Jacob Mai

I mean I probably should know more about American history (although I was born and raised in Canada) but some of the YouTube comments are ripping me to pieces haha! Watching these types of movies def helps me learn things I otherwise wouldn't...

Cassie

I loved it Chris, thanks for suggesting it and thank you for the kind words!

Cassie

Haha! I LOVE me some coffee crisp as well!

Cassie

Don't pay any attention to those who might comment about you not knowing much about the French and Indian Wars......I'm sure very few of them know that much about it either. Love the reaction Cassie!

John Thomas

I'm so glad you liked this movie! Once I started watching your reaction to it I got so nervous! I guess it hit me that I hope you and the other patrons would like the selection. You are doing great work on your channel and so, so glad I found it!!

Chris Therrien

I couldn't agree more!

MattN

Indeed. As with most major events in history, a person could dedicate one shelf each of their personal library of both video and print and probably not cover the full context of the event. Not counting any smaller events or how any two or more events can tie into each other. I’m glad we all have our own piece of knowledge to fill in any necessary gaps, or send the lovely Cassie in the right direction. 😁

Jacob Mai

As is par for the course; great reaction!! I always have mixed feelings about this movie. I remember watching is as a kid, and then a few more times as I grew up, and even now after watching it again with everyone I still don't know how I feel about it. I do love the director however. Michael Mann is one of my favorite directors ever! I love film noir, and I love a director that can tell a great LA story. Quite frankly, I don't know anyone that does it better than Michael Mann. I am starting to ramble, with regards to the historical accuracy it was a completely fictionalized story set within real historical context. The battle and surrender of the fort was true as well as the attack of the survivors by a local tribe who was assisting the French. Like Jacob said above, this war held a lot of significance in the events that started the Colonial revolt and the American Revolution. Once again, great react!! I look forward to the next one!

MattN

This movie was the second movie based on the 1826 novel. It is set in the middle of the French and Indian War, also known as the 7 Years War. The resulting debt the British incurred was past on to their American colonies. These taxes and other grievances war what resulted in the start of the American Revolution.

Jacob Mai

Name one better candy... challenge accepted. Coffee Crisp :)
