This gives opportunity for someone to oppose the marriage in cases of bigotry or some type of “villainous” behavior. Season 1 when Anthony tells Simon to stop courting Daphne because she was “already engaged” and Simon’s response was “have the banns been read?” In his Duke of Hastings snark. Unless someone elopes to Scotland or applies and is approved for a special license, then this was apart of the engagement process. More useless information that takes up space in my head.

2024-06-25 17:57:17 +0000 UTCThe actress Nicola Coughlan is doing an accent as well as the character Penelope - while yes she's doing an Irish accent it is a Dublin accent, Nicola Coughlan has a Galway accent, so you're not wrong. I think the reason she does an Irish accent that is not her own is, as someone also from Galway and so with a similar accent, it is much softer and not always recognised as Irish (I live in England get asked if I'm American or Canadian a lot more than Irish). If you watch interviews you can hear her actual accent and that it's very different from the one she does at the printers

We get to see how romantic and caring Colin is towards Penelope, their dance in the church, her confessing her love for him since childhood, him acknowledging how blind he’s been, a glimpse of writer Colin talking about his manuscript (from the book), Cressida’s amazing entrance to Confident looking stunning in red, the beginnings of the Peneloise reunion, and the drama of the reveal at the end!! I live for it!!
