EARLY ACCESS: Spider Man 3

Comments

It’s really confusing. He’s venom. Not to be confused with the movie Venom which is the same character but not.

Robert Gruhn

As a huge X-Men fan, I really want you to do those. Ok, some can be skipped, but some are really excellent and, frankly, you have to watch Deadpool someday. And Logan, IMO, the best comic book movie ever made. -- C

Yes! And, definitely also Seabisquit. But then I am a big lover of horses.

the symboyiet (the black stuff) is sensitive to sound

Spider-man was the top box office movie of 2002, Spider-man 2 was #2 box office (behind Shrek 2), and even Spider-man 3 was #1 @ box office in 2007…I do not think that is considered a niche market. 🤷🏻‍♂️

This was a Dad joke, but thanks for the background info! :)

Well, the name has a story-based/thematic origin in the comics, so I'm gonna say probably not. And, since Black Widow predated his creation by at least a couple of decades, I'm guessing not even for the pun value.

I specifically said kids, not audience in general. And these movies aren't the MCU; when they came out they were still considered niche market. So I still say that the majority of the KIDS that saw these movies when they came out were already Venom fans and knew what they were getting into. That is one of the whole controversies about this movie, the studios forced Venom into the story because of his popularity. They had a targeted audience and shot directly at it. Actually, I'll take back the "comics fan" part and clarify I really meant Venom fans, because he was in cartoons and toys, too, going back to the 90's.

Thomas Yanez

I would disagree that most of little kids or the audience in general who watched these movies were comic readers. Just like with today’s DC/Marvel movies…the vast majority of the people watching the movies have not read the comics.

Just realized this movie misses an opportunity. In Spidey 2, MJ leaves Jameson's son at the altar to be with Peter. Jameson should have been constantly bringing that up in this one! "Parker! How's that floozy of yours? Just kidding. Water under the bridge. But seriously, you two are the worst. What do you want? A staff job? Ha! After you work off what I spent on caviar." I can hear his voice

Michael Tocci

Ashleigh might recognize him from Season 2 of "American Horror Story," though that was a way's back!

Michael Tocci

The "old guy" you mentioned is the Warden whose wife was ill in The Green Mile Of course, you may also recognize him from other movies.

See now I want her to watch Venom!

Pure speculation, but I wonder if they ever considered naming dark Spider-Man "The Black Widower"....

Bravehome

Bob Murawski was the lead editor on all 3 original Spider-Man films. However, there are dozens of 'sub-editors' in the credits, and perhaps these had an influence on the final look of S-M 3.

Pleasantville is a very good suggestion, I think she would really like it

Mark Finley

Regarding your comment about little kids being scared by this movie - the odds are that most of the little kids that went to see it already knew who Venom was, what to expect, and this was awesome to them, not terrifying. Edit : clarified my fandom comment was more appropriately aimed at Venom in all media at the time the movie was released, not comics specifically.

Furthermore, seeing as how you like Tobey Maguire so much, I suggest start adding Pleasantville, Wonder Boys and/or Seabiscuit to the polls. Also, the recent remake of The Great Gatsby with Leonardo Di Caprio.

For what it's worth, this Spider-Man movie has the same editor/director team as the other two Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies. (Director Sam Raimi and Editor Bob Murowski.)
