Comfort and control

The new VR headset was surprisingly light, and breathable. Its faceguard was gentle on your skin, and a soft light filled your vision as it turned on.
It had been billed as a “revolution in VR comfort and control” by the small company that made it. So of course, you had bought it.
And now, with it on your head, you had to agree that it was comfortable. And as the soft light of a start up screen filled your vision, you were taken away by the soft colours that filled your vision. Resolving into a gorgeous haze of light that you found captivating.
You hadn’t noticed the voices, whispering, echoing from the headphones. The voices that seemed to massage your brain, melting and moulding your thoughts, piece by piece. You didn’t care. It felt too good to want to stop. You wanted more of this. More bliss.
You felt the cables gently wrapping around your hands and legs, guiding you to a more relaxed pose. You couldn’t think, so it didn’t occur to you that the headset didn’t have cables with it. And over the course of minutes, you found your resistance crumbling.
Where there might have been a small part of your brain trying to resist before, now there was none. Just bliss, and willingness to give in. The cables guiding your hands and legs, making purchases, leaving reviews. And then came the pulses of pleasure.
Each pulse left your memory foggier and foggier. Before long, all that existed was the pleasure, as the voices guided your unguarded mind to forget.
You took the headset off, feeling dazed. You couldn’t remember what had just happened. But you knew that you wanted more.
