New patreon billing model?

Hello everyone!

There's this new way subscription works on Patreon, it's basically the same thing we already have in our Subscribestar.

At the state of the game, we are highly dependent on the monthly budget to pay for freelancers. But I'm inclined to change to this new way anyways and wanted to know your thoughts.

The pro I see with this new method is that we'll have a lower drop of patrons every time the month changes and that it seems fairer; the con I see is that I don't really know if the budget will be as predictable as it currently is because, from experience in Subscribestar, there are times we have a good amount of income to withdraw. There are times when we need to wait a week or so. But we also have faaaar fewer people on our Subscribestar page, so it might not be a good comparison.

So let me know what you think!

But we've been keeping our patreon page up for years and have no intention to change it. What we are doing is expanding it to other areas like subscribestar and eventually, steam. As for subscription method, this is something new on patreon. The people who already pledge is not affected, it only changes for new patrons

Kalyskah Team

Personally, I don't like itch.io. I'm sure there are a lot of people that don't mind it, or even like it but I prefer a simpler method. Steam, for example. Whatever the method the Kalyskah team chooses needs to consider exposure first. Exposure means people buying in and a higher income for the development of the game (not to mention paychecks). Second, ease of use for the subscription service for the customers. If the subscription service is troublesome, no matter how good the game, people will stop playing, and then stop paying. I personally avoid Origin and Epic specifically because of this, even though I own games on both. Third, the Kalyskah team needs to settle on one subscription service and stick with it. Changing subscription services disrupts cash-flow and new customer subscriptions. If you're a new customer, you would be hesitant to stick with or even try a game if you are not sure it's going to be around after a few months. Frequently switching subscription services can give the impression of a tenuous financial situation. In other words, it may not be around long. These are just my opinions. I like the game and will continue to support it for as long as is realistically possible in order to see it completed. I can see the core of a great game in the making and I look forward to playing it in the future. The method of payment is not a big deal to me.

Itchio would allso be a good site for your game to grow more support.
