However I'm gonna pretend this was a very thoughtful creative decision and I'm gonna say that: This man right here always liked basketball but he felt like shit cause he wasn't tall enough. He didn't tell this to Iwa, cause he didn't wanna offend him jdafjfsk So he went to Oikawa. Like, hey dad, I wanna be an ace but I'm short. maybe I wasn't born with it. AND OIKAWA, the king himself, gives him the pep talk. Cause he wasn't born with talent, he worked hard for everything in life, and it was the same for it. Who cares if he isn't "tall enough"? He can work hard to be the ace, and he was gonna be the best. AND THEN they talked to Iwa who helped him train without getting injuries LIKE A CERTAIN SOMEONE. So there he is. That's the backstory
