I still remember the intensity of writing this episode. I put myself fully in the "human" frame of mind, seeing and hearing all of this for the first time. Knowing what it meant to the gems, they really expected to die defending Steven and The Earth. I love working with high stakes like this, where it feels like all hell is breaking loose.
Steven's angry outburst in the car was something I introduced to show how much it meant to him, wanting to go back and save his family, or at least stand with them to the end.
