I really like these vignettes we're getting of other unmarked being killed. The fact that we get sneak peeks at unique settings and situations by itself makes the story feel bigger and the setting more alive, but also the impassive way each scene is described makes these deaths feel more tragic. Everything about the writing of this death felt like we were seeing the embattled end of a long journey, and for it to end so quickly and ignominiously was appropriate hellish. And also, the imagery of a decapitated head tumbling down the edge of a mountain of archangel corpses? I mean, metal as fuck. Such a cool concept for a landscape. All that said, I hope James really is a good person — it feels unsatisfying if all the other unmarked besides David & Mia were bound for Hell before they died.
