Now that you guys have seen this episode i think i can say this. A theory on the hybrid animals is past spirit world interactions like the guy who became half tree. My theory is that some animals became spirits over time or just stayed in the spirit world, or maybe the spirit animals just reflect the natural world. In s1 Aang sees a 'curly tailed blue-nose' in the spirit world and I don't think he's been in the spirit world prior to this, except when he was a spirit in the Hei Bai episode. I assume that animal is in the natural world as well. We also see a bird and a giant fox when he's in the spirit world.

2023-09-18 17:52:27 +0000 UTCGreat reactions here are some extra details. The order Wan received his bending is actually the Avatar cycle. Fire, air, water, earth. Where Wan died is actually seen in Avatar The Last Airbender. Zuko walked through the place in Zuko Alone.
