Of course if an alien ship landed on one of our nudist beach, they would think we are quite primitive as well. The actual technological level of the fairies is, on average, medieval, but there are some early steampunk/renaissance-level technology in the bigger population centers like Prosperity, while other place like the Giant Forest Village, is quite tribal.
Also 297 can't swim. but he can't drown either, so he was mostly bored.
