This evening I stumbled across this video on youtube showing the process of legendary photographer Albert Watson on a shoot with a professional dancer. The video is clearly about showcasing the ProFoto lights that get a lot of airtime but whether it's a promotional video or not is irrelevant.

My studio lighting training is minimal. My boss a few years ago gave me the basics but essentially I'm self-taught. This is possibly why my lighting setups are very simple and possibly that lack of training has set my aesthetic.

Albert Watson is a titan of the photography world having taken some absolutely classic images that you might have come across. Watching him talk about how he's set up the lighting or the model is inspirational and definitely educational. ProFoto are also really good lights. My former workplace used to use them and they were very simple to set up and use. It's unlikely that I'll ever have the reputation that Albert Watson has but his skill is astonishing.
