Yes, Sobel was petty and vindictive and was hated by the men of Easy Company. Some of them even wanted to kill him with "friendly fire" but, he is probably the reason they made it through the war. His hard training prepared them for the hell they went through in Europe and most important of all he made all the men come together by focusing their hate on him, starting the journey which made the men of Easy Company into the Band of Brothers. And a lot of them did recognize what he did for them, even if they hated him. And I think David Schwimmer did a great job of making me hate his character even if it hard to keep thinking it was Ross. Sgt. Harris was kicked out by Colonel Sink cause he was the senior NCO of the company. And his second was reduced to private as an example. It was basically punishment for the "two ring leaders" who got the other NCOs to band together to protest.
