Queendom Puzzle Episode 9 - REACTION

Queendom Puzzle Episode 9 - REACTION

Comments

I've enjoyed watching the girls performances and interactions but this show has been a train wreck. In this episode I really thought the IDGA team did the best and I wanted them to win but that normal excited anticipation feeling of waiting for the result has completely gone by now bc even though I thought they deserved it I also expected it. That's kind of part of the conflicting frustration I feel. On one hand, I think this group could've performed any song with their back to the audience and still would've won. On the other hand, that kind of thinking takes away from the fact that I actually do think they did well and deserved the win. I think I've finally come to understand why the 'popularity contest' complaint of any voting situation in kpop seems so much more apparent of an issue here. For the most part these idols came to this show with relatively small fanbases and I guess on a much smaller scale any variances in popularity make a bigger difference which is why Mnet should have implemented a more thought out system of scoring and judgement criteria. It's been a sham of a competition for the most part and Bora being eliminated is one of the biggest highlights of this problem. I didn't expect her to necessarily make the final 7 and I was OK with that but she deserved to make it to the final and it was so heartbreaking watching that hope on her face right up until the end. I feel like Mnet has shown less respect to these idols than they've shown in the previous seasons. They may always do their evil edits but there's no way they would've put any of the groups in the past 2 seasons what they're putting the ones this season through. Good for Elly for getting a main character arc this episode though.

Ok I notice that most of us pretty much agree with 3 or 4 names that come up all the time Kei, Nana, Yeeun. I built in my head a group which seems to me to be viable if I had the vision of an agency in my head. 1 Kei of course as Main vocal but also as potential leader. many girls in the program have already said that it would be obvious to them. even if Nana, Yeeun could also do the trick (Nana because she is the leader of her group and Yeeun by experience. Dohwa would also be good but I don't believe for a second that she is in the final line up, a premonition. 2 Nana completely agree with you on all points. she will bring to the group an energy and her talent as a dancer and allrounder. 3 Yeeun A Potential Second Leader And The Group's Rapper our opinion diverges 4 Yeoreum still a good dancer to solidify the group and she is also an idol with a lot of experience. 5 Jihan is a very good singer very little known Weeekly has a very very good vocal line and after Monday their vocal hand Jihan is the best. she will provide support to Kei they match well together I think. she is also a versatile idol who will go as well with a girl crush concept as a brighter or cute concept 6 Yuri I think this girl is a real marvel she will put a very good atmosphere in any group and she is very versatile. 7 there we can put Yuki to have a second Rapper, Hwiseo to further consolidate the vocal line. given their ranking they will probably be in the final line up. like that this group has 3 members with a lot of experience ( Yeeun , Kei , Yeoreum ) their unnies line have 2 very good female singer (Kei, Jihan) 2 good dancer (Nana, Yeoreum) 1 very talented rapper (Yeeun) and several jokers who can consolidate them all (Yuki, Hwiseo, Juri)

- That graphic showing the 7-6-8 teams finally becoming 7-7-7 felt very good for my OCD 😊 - Knowing the final scores and now hearing again how the 30.000 benefit is supposedly enough to "turn things completely around" is a load of bull crap: the difference between the top 7 and number 8 is almost 100.000 😑 - I really disliked the very long pause after each song's intro. I remember Mamamoo having an intro but I don't remember it having one of the long and awkward pauses. - Again I was really let down in the production in all performances. Can't even afford a phone prop for Suyun??? All the stages only had just like a simple background. That's it. That's all the production. Where are the backup dancers? Bom's choir? Legendary intro's like from BTOB or Stray Kids? The kraken from Ateez? Smoke, mirrors? The production here is just the same you can see any week on Music Bank or M Countdown for example. - Based on just the songs my order of liking them is: 1. Puzzling 2. I Do (song is great but I just really dislike that sudden wedding song sound) 3. I DGA (too much "I don't give a whuuut?" for me) Who performed the best? I'm not sure. - Both Billionaire and Last Piece sound great! - Jiwon getting eliminated hurt. I hoped she could survive 1 more round. But to hear her say "I missed the stage" made me quite angry at their company 😡 Let them perform! Give them a comeback! - Bora was the biggest surprise for me. Well, up to the interim votes anyway. This is the girl whose solo, out of 28 idol solos, was voted #1 by the other idols. She also carried the team in the dance off and had maybe the best performance with Kei. She may be one of the weakest dancers, but so is Kei. Oh well, it sucks. I hope Bora will get an opportunity to do musicals soon 🤞 So she can stop getting her heart broken again and again on these shows. She's just so endearing. She just wants so badly to be on stage and perform, it's almost oozing out of her 😢

crispy chicken

yes even for me that make no sense at all then 2 thing -1 once again NMET manipulated the votes which would be extremely dangerous for the channel since they are very careful and warned that if such a thing were to happen again on their channel very large fines and even worse could fall to them above . and I doubt that is the case. -2 the votes and benefit drastically changes the results. and completely blurs our feelings. but then if the profits favor the votes which is normal why Fye is eliminated ???. so being Thai she does not benefit from a very strong fandom as Kei, Yeeun or Yeoreum could benefit from it for example but it is still very strange. and yet the benefit clearly benefited Elly who I think would have been eliminated without it. so unfortunately someone as talented as Bora proves that you can be an incredibly talented idol if you're not popular you won't succeed. and unfortunately it does not seem very popular.

this group is looking to be a really amazing one. the top 7 seem to fit very well

Here's a full breakdown of the ranking and everyone's scores: 1. Hwiseo 594,400 2. Nana 537,782 3. Yuki 522,245 4. Yeoreum 505,236 5. Yeeun 494,677 6. Kei 485,485 7. Yeonhee 461,327 8. Elly 377,416 9. Juri 376,298 10. Dohwa 343,755 11. Jihan 339,485 12. Suyun 312,667 13. Wooyeon 307,745 14. Jiwoo 306,475 15. Jiwon 296,033 16. Fye 290,370 17. Miru 285,533 18. Riina 275,835 19. Zoa 273,641 20. Bora 249,489 21. Soojin 229,811 Bora was second to last. Even if her team had won the benefit, she wouldn't have stood a chance. I just don't understand what's going on here.

Oh boy, do I really want to put myself through this pain again? - To be honest, if Form of Therapy (the one other channel I support on Patreon) ever gets around to watching Queendom Puzzle, I'm probably gonna advise them to skip episode 8. Not much would be missed and it would mean less work for them. - If this was a more traditional season of Queendom where complete groups compete for a trophy, I'd agree with you. But this is a lot more like those other survival shows where everyone competes for themselves. We're trying to close in on a lineup of 7 from 26 contestants. To me it makes sense to eliminate people the closer we get to the finale. - I can understand your disappointment. Ultimately this show is just another season of Produce / Girls Planet, with the difference that all contestants are debuted idols. - Does that world tour include Europe? Because so many Kpop companies just forget about us. - Cherry Bullet Haeyoon and Chaerin in the audience! - For the group name I'd even take something super basic and uncreative like „Puzzle Queens“. Just anything that's not fucking EL7Z U+P. - No, they don't say anything like that. One vote is one vote. Regardless of if it comes from Korea or somewhere else. It's actually fair this time. For as similar as the show's concept is to something like Girls Planet, I actually prefer the voting here. I like that we can still vote for seven people. Unlike the Planet series where you were only allowed ONE vote at the end. - tripleS Yooyeon is also here! My bias! - And woo!ah! Lucy as well as Purple Kiss Goeun and Ireh. - Space Primates, what a name. - Instead of just saying that one person from I Do needs to go to i DGA, Mnet makes a whole thing out of this again. - And even more Purple Kiss in the audience! Dosie and Swan are here too. And Weki Meki's Rina. - Yes, they did show Elly in that outfit right from the start and I immediately noticed on my first watch. That whole build up did nothing for me. Puzzlin - I think Viki actually did lyric translations for Kingdom but never on any other shows. Why? - Minseo from woo!ah! is also here! Is the audience only comprised of the contestants teammates or what? - Cute, fun song and performance. But nothing mindblowing and third place for me. i DGA - Bobby is so awkwardly overpolite, I love it 😂 But then you listen to a song like U Mad and he transforms into a monster. - Why stop at Tiktok challenges? I want Yuki to feature on Bobby's next solo song. Or vice versa. - Hwiseo, multiple offense lip biter - Yeah, that one is tough to beat. - Also, how the fuck is Dohwa not in the top 7? That just doesn't make sense. I Do - SO much milking, it's a whole dairy farm. - I Do is honestly so fucking good, I have a really hard time deciding which one's my favourite. - Oh shit, Chaein is also in the audience. With the exception of Jieun, all of Purple Kiss is here! - Yes, WJSN's last comeback was called Last Sequence. But there is a GOT7 song called Last Piece! It's one of their best imo. - This Last Piece however sounds like a 3YE song. - They need a bigger room for Last Piece. - How do you even cope with heat like this? - Seeing as the top 7 lineup has barely changed from the last round, I would expect a very similar result for the finale. I'm pretty satisfied with this but there is a severe lack of Dohwa. - You know things are going bad when you have to gaslight yourself into still loving Taeyeon 😅 - It really sucks that Fye is out. But I'm really glad I got to discover her through this show and I will absolutely be there for her new single in September! Man but I also hurt for Dohwa. She basically adopted Fye like a little sister. Even though they were born literally nine days apart. - Puzzlin team got fucking decimated. - In fact, everyone who was a candidate for eliminations last week, actually did get eliminated here. - „There's no way they're getting rid of Bora, right?“ Come on man, did you have to rub it in like this? - I hate everything. - I DID NOT WASTE MY FUCKING VOTES EVERY SINGLE DAY THESE PAST TWO WEEKS JUST TO HAVE BORA ELIMINATED. You gotta be fucking kidding me. - So Cherry Bullet is completely out. Well, I guess now FNC has no excuse to not give them a comeback as soon as possible. And stop sending Bora to every single survival show, she has endured enough. Well, time to make my final top 7. Since one of my fixed top 2 is now eliminated, I guess that leaves space for someone else to move in? 1. Nana. From before the first episode, always my favourite. Someone else said it under a previous episode and I 100% agree: Nana is a perfect idol. A complete allrounder in skills and personality. 2. Dohwa. Her charisma is just absolutely outstanding. And with her experience she'd be the perfect leader for the group. 3. Hwiseo. Do I even need to explain myself here? 4. Suyun. Another one with charisma off the charts. I realised that whenever someone really grabbed my attention in a Rocket Punch MV, it was almost always Suyun. 5. Kei. Main vocal. That is all. 6. Yeeun. One of the best Kpop rappers of her generation and she would really elevate this group. 7. This one I'm not so sure about. I'm struggling between Juri, Yuki and Yeoreum for the final spot. I'd be happy with any of them. Or anyone else to be honest. My top 6 are locked and the 7th place can really go to anyone and I'll be happy.

Marcel Wannieck

I think the finals will have nana, yeonhee, jiwoo, Jihan, kei, wooyeon, and juri on billionaire. Yuki, yeeun, yeoreum, hwiseo, dowha, elly, suyun for last piece.

Marcelius Washington

for the 2 songs of the final I will not be original I also prefer Last piece but... there is Nana and Jihan in billionnaire the twins of queendom. that's also why Jihan has to come back in the top 7 in my mind these 2 are inseparable locks. so we'll see after elimination how the groups will reorganize but I think I'm going to support the Billionaire team despite the fact that I prefer the song Last piece.

- I have a strange feeling this year, I don't know, but even if all the performances are good, they look a little bland. this round is not too "Queendom" but more normal performance as we can see every week in the music show. no creativity, staging, story telling or props. it seems to me that during the first round the girls had had more imagination. otherwise here is my ranking 1 I DO 2 I DGA 3 PUZZLING - 1 Puzzling good performance, full of freshness and good vibe. but honestly we see that every day right now in the music shows with the bands all coming back with concepts for the summer. good performance but not memorable. - 2 I DGA I love the members I also thought that the concept and the fact that there are 4 members of the top 7 in it would make a legendary performance in the Queendom shows but in fact No. I found the performance very academic very clean, not really at the level of BAD BLOOD which was really for me the most striking performance this year with NXDE despite the small errors in the performance. the performance remains very close but I it's not something was missing to make it a remarkable performance among the performances of other seasons. -3 I DO best performance for this round to me. first we got all the bright and bubbly girls of the show (Nana, Jihan, Yeonhee, Juri, Zoa, Jiwoo, Bora) so i knew that this performance will be bright as fuuck. it's the performance that most resembles a performance of Queendom we had a set, a bit of staging, wedding dresses, and above all the song itself was perfect for this season of the year. I like cool stuff like I DGA or Bad Blood but it's summer we need bright, happy and fun stuff. - now the big thing the top 7 it hasn't changed too much we just see Yeonhee's arrival I'm very happy for her and she deserves it. I get to know her and I like this girl. now that she is in the top ok but not in place of JIHAN who is a lock for me like Nana / Yeoreum / Yeeun and Kei. so currently the group has 3 members that I like but who are interchangeable. Yuki / Hwiseo / Yeonhee so in the end Jihan has to come back to the top instead of one of them to have an optimal top 7 (for me) it would take Nana, Jihan, Yeoreum, Yeeun, Kei, Juri and the last member can be Hwiseo, Yuki or Yeonhee. - the name of the group is really not terrible but ke tells me that every time for Fromis 9, for IZ*ONE for KEP1ER for MOMOLAND I always think but why there are always weird group names. - About the "eliminated" I did not expect that. Bora, Jiwon and Fye "eliminated" ???????? while they are not in the final group ok but eliminated they do not participate in the final. while Bora and JIWON was in the first ranking of the top 7?? It reminds me of the final of PRODUCE48 where an ultra popular trainee of the program who was always in the top 3 ended up eliminated from the final line up. on the other hand pleasantly surprised to see Wooyeon and Elly in the Top 14 I frankly thought that they would be among the eliminated. I am very disappointed but unfortunately not surprised by the elimination of Miru. I would so much have liked to see her make these debuts in Korea. They were truly one of my favorites. but I realized pretty quickly that there was little chance of that happening, she was far too withdrawn during the whole show, we barely heard her speak.

Me writing my finals Essay due the next morning be like:

Andatore

Where to even begin? I also wish that there were no eliminations for this show. Queendom technically had the possibility for eliminations but only if the contestants weren't even trying and got last twice in a row. I like that compromise as mnet can have their drama but it's statistically very unlikely that anyone would get eliminated. I loved the first 6 episodes of this show as it started with the most interesting part of survival shows like produce and GP999 with the auditions/intros in the first 2 episodes and then the rest was like the unit round in queendom which is always the most interesting part for me. Not only do I dislike eliminations in general I feel that it's brought down the quality of the performances. In the earlier rounds you could hear that most of the contestants were singing live and they had interesting sets/props which take time to set up and tear down between performances. With the semis and final performances being live mnet isn't willing to let them sing live since they won't be able to edit it in post and the stages feel empty. Also this makes the performances almost meaningless and essentially just a tiebreaker. Because 2 weeks of voting everyday for the semis(14) vs 1 vote during the episode the votes only reflect the previous rounds and not how well they did in the current round. Anyways onto the actual episode. After the eliminations 2 weeks ago I chose Elly as the person I most wanted to get added to IDGAF from the I Do team as she's really impressed me starting with the Fighting performance. She really brings the energy and I think they needed her vocals. I was pleasantly surprised that mnet took a page out of Dohwa's book and had them politely ask a few people if they would like to join their team instead of starting with kicking someone out of I Do. See mnet you can still milk the drama of who's going to change teams without needing to traumatize the contestants(playing Soojin crying after getting kicked out of her team in my head again) 1st Pick Nana: If IDGAF wasn't already a lock for winning this round Nana joining would have put their chances to a literal 100%. The live subtitles were slightly different and they basically told Nana that if she joined she could have any part she wanted. I agree her decision to reject the offer as Nana doesn't need the 30k points. She just needs to stand out in the performance and stay on the fans good side. No offence to the other contestants but she was guaranteed to stand out in the I Do team and like she said the fans picked that song for her. I wouldn't risk the fans getting upset that they didn't get her doing the song they chose for her. 2nd Pick Suyun: Suyun would have been great in IDGAF but I again agree with her refusing the offer. Similar to Nana she's bound to stand out in Puzzlin and if she joins the team with 4 of the top7 she's going get lost in the mix. Also she reminded me that they had already been practicing the other song for a week and switching to a new song and starting over is a real cost. Also I have no idea what mnet would have done if they accepted because then Puzzlin would have 6 and I Do would still have 8. Better for Puzzlin to stay 7 in my opinion. 3rd Pick Elly: I was clearly rooting for them to choose Elly for the reasons stated above. From her perspective she was stuck with a rapper position in I Do since the song was too high for her and her name might have been on the chopping block if it came down to an elimination vote. Also it seems to me that she's been hovering in the middle of the pack in terms of votes so I think she really needed those 30k points. But why mnet do you have to show her on the stage at the start of the episode in camo fatigues and the two other groups are wearing wedding dresses. I wonder which team she's on with that outfit? DG I'm glad you didn't let mnet spoil you on that one even though you did realize they did it afterwards :) Performances: Puzzlin: I wanted to like it but I mostly found it boring. Since there was no live singing and the stage was empty and the choreo was just okay. I'm also not a big fan of the concept or song in general. They finally gave Jiwon some screen time for the first time since episode 1 it seems but it was too late to matter because again 90% of the votes have already been cast. IDGAF: My most anticipated of the round and it didn't disappoint. They really brought the attitude and energy. I also like the song. I'm glad Elly did well in the recording booth. I'm glad Yuki finally got some real screen time. It's almost like mnet was shocked when she made top7 last time and were like quick lets get her some screen time :) I don't think Bobby was critiquing her at mnets request though. I assume that Bobby is more comfortable giving advice to a rapper on pronunciation that he is giving advice to a vocalist since he can speak from experience and give quality advice in that area. I love all of the Yeeun, Yeoreum, Yuki moments! Not Yeoreum throwing Yuki under the bus by telling Bobby she was his fan :) Also Yeeun going into the booth to give her a pep talk and them both cheering for her from the other room! I would also like to take this time to remind everyone that Yuki's Japanese so her getting corrected on pronunciation shouldn't be a big deal. Yeoreum killed her 5 second dance break. Yeeun slayed with her stage presence. Not Hwiseo biting her lip again when she wasn't even the focus of the shot Elly's vocals stood out Yuki got the one line in the entire song that actually sounded like rap and got plenty of center time Dohwa brought the sexiness Fye still managed to have a few parts where she stood out even though she gave up her part to Elly. We've seen that she doesn't just give up her part because she doesn't understand what's happening. I respect her for giving up her part and it's nice that Elly could get the part she wanted since she gave up all the time and effort she put into the I Do team. I Do: I couldn't stand this song. The wedding music is okay for the intro but to keep repeating it in the song took me out every time. The rest of the song was okay but I couldn't get over the wedding music in the actual song. I also didn't like the wedding concept or the outfits. I did enjoy the behind the scenes for this performance so I'll focus on that :) I love Yeonhee but man is she unlucky. I don't think she's ever gotten the part she wanted with the exception of charismatic but she wanted to be on the pick team in the first place. I love her attitude and work ethic and how prepared she is but sometimes it's better to work smarter not harder. The whole team only learned the choreo from Rian up through part of the song and Yeonhee "wasted" who knows how many hours practicing a part she wasn't even assigned yet. Nana was like I'm busy working as an MC with Moon Sua and Tsuki so I only learned the part that they taught us. Unfortunately for Yeonhee even with all the extra preparation Nana just shined brighter even dancing only half of it. Nobody doubts that she'll be able to learn the rest of the song before the performance. Also only Bora voted for Yeonhee and even Juri(who turns out is also Rocket Punch: https://youtu.be/fRVZ8edXApA ) voted for Nana :) Final Songs: I hate those stupid rooms. I feel like mnet after using them once gave up on them and just let everyone puzzle in front of each other for the rest of the rounds but they wanted to get their use out of those rooms since they already built them. Isn't the whole point of having the stands in those rooms for the members pictures so that the members don't have to stay in the box for the entire time? How many hours was Hwiseo trapped in that box? How much time does it take to show 21 members Taeyeon's explanation of the rules and the 2 performance videos? And the whole time the members have to stay quiet in the room so as to not give away who's already chosen what. By the end there wasn't even enough room for everyone to sit down. Nana should definitely do it solo DG, how dare you suggest that Yuki go to Billionaire when Yeeun and Yeoreum were already in last Piece. Gotta keep the family together :) Wasn't the whole point of making them pick before the eliminations to give them extra time to practice the songs? So if only 5 people picked Billionaire how can they practice without enough members? If I was in Last Piece and more popular members chose the same part that I wanted I would have asked to switch to Billionaire to have a better chance of getting a good part and to get a head start on practice. Top7: I guess I should start with my personal top 7 Nana, Yeoreum, Yeeun, Yuki, Dohwa, Kei, and Hwiseo I've been very happy with the interim top 7s so far as 6/7 are on my list. I'm still dreading the final results as I don't want another GP999 situation with some of the favorites not getting any votes since people assumed they were safe. I would like to think that Nana, Hwiseo, Yeoreum, Yeeun, and Kei are a lock but who knows. I'd be happy with any other 2 people in the final 2 spots but if those main ones don't make it I'm going to feel tricked. Yeoreum had my favorite acceptance speech. Anytime someone starts with I'm not going to cry and then proceeds to lose it is hilarious. Happy for Yeonhee! She never got the part she wanted and lost every round but she still managed to make it. It's dumb that they announced her in the interim top7 during episode 8 and at the start Jihan was still in the chair and they had her give a belated/preemptive acceptance speech from the rest of the contestants on the stage. Eliminations: Fye: I don't think Fye was confused about getting eliminated. I think she didn't realize that Taeyeon wasn't done announcing and that Dohwa and Elly's results hadn't been called yet. Just my impression could be wrong. She had my favorite elimination speech. I love her attitude and confessing her love for Taeyeon sunbaenim was so cute. Also she did an excellent job with the self promo. I'll have to check out her single when it comes out. Jiwon: I wasn't surprised but I really hoped she'd make it to the finals. Unfortunately I stopped voting for her a few episodes in as other members just stood out more to me. Queen Bora: I wasn't surprised either but I was really sad. I personally think she's too good for the group. She should go solo and do musicals and OSTs and that type of stuff. Whatever music this group ends up doing is unlikely going to show off her vocals. Not all of Cherry Bullet getting eliminated while all of Rocket Punch is still here. If you told me that at the start of the show I wouldn't have believed you. I'm happy all of Rocket Punch is still here BTW they're all great. Best part of the Eliminations is after they were over Dohwa gesturing for all the members to come over to the middle stage. Purple Kiss Moments: All of PK was in the audience to support our girl Yuki! All timestamps from viki not this reaction as I wasn't taking notes during the reaction and this is not a comprehensive list just some enjoyable moments. Non Plorys can skip this part. Not Chaein standing behind Chaerin with the Yuki poster. 9:55 I see you Goeun. I'd recognize that eye anywhere 9:57 Goeun with Queen Taeyeon written on her phone with a crown. She's gotta be one of Taeyeon's biggest fans. 15:55 Ireh and Dosie in the hats cheering for Yuki during the IDGAF performance! 1:03:36 Chaein hiding behind Chaerin again :) 1:24:08 A good shot of Dosie but she's no longer standing next to Ireh?! Also Swan is trying to hide her blonde hair under that bucket hat. This is where I went delusional and made up a story of Swan showing up late to the show due to her solo schedules and Dosie left the group to keep her company. 1:25:13 Also Dosie and Yeoreum are unofficial twins :) Not Dosie using the Drooling face emote for Yuki! 1:25:15 Finally a full shot of Swan cheering for the IDGAF win 1:28:23 A cameo by Chaein's mouth 1:28:41 Dosie nodding to Yuki's speech for the IDGAF win 1:29:05 A good shot of where PK is standing in the croud. Bottom left Swan in the black bucket hat and Dosie and Ireh in the white caps. This is where my delusion ended as they're all still standing together just Swan and Dosie are in the front row 1:56:11 Yuki giving us the meme again! 1:57:28 Yeeun proud parent moment 1:58:07 Yuki seeing the members waiving at her in the crowd and Yeoreum waving at her too! 1:58:17 Yuki and Yeoreum freaking out welcoming Yeeun to the top7! 1:59:23 Sorry for the excessive PK freak-out session but all I want is PK in Queendom 3. Them being present kept me interested throughout the entire 2:30 hour show. DG I loved the reaction as always and I hope you're feeling better.
