If you're like me, your players love to exercise their Detect Magic spell when it comes to magic items. I love it, because it's a fun shorthand. But I also hate it because I always have to think about it...
"What does that magic item do? And what spells are kinda like that? And what schools of magic would those be?"
And Lathander forbid they pull that stunt in the middle of a magic shop.
Now, I don't have to think. I can just look it up. And I can even show them (or send them a link to) a big, animated representation of the aura(s) of that item.
And our Keepers can, too! Plus, they can easily search for other items or change to a different color scheme (there are only a few so far, but that may change down the road).
Even non-Keepers get some of this, too, enjoying a quick reference for items in any saved shops, though if the item has multiple schools of magic, it only shows a random of of those auras.
This release has more than just a shiny, new, really colorful feature.
There are several bugfixes related to custom presets and locations. That's right! Locations are back! (I think)
Plus, there are some usability improvements, including edit links next to saved shop prices to quickly add price overrides.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with this release. It's already seen some action at my table over this past weekend. Our druid, who just multiclassed rogue, managed to random roll some Gloves of Thievery, which is just about perfect. And I got to show off a nice visual aid for its magical aura when the wizard and cleric both scanned it with Detect Magic.
Hopefully, it'll be as fun for your table as it was at mine!
