[Salvos] 704. Weaklings (Removed for KU)

(Removed for KU)

Well, there are other parts of the story where I'd like to be a fly on the wall, for instance, Watcher and Daniel resting after a mock fight and Watcher asks him what Salvos is really like, and then Daniel thinks about it and tells him some stories. Also, Willy just learned why Edithe can't summon anymore, and his respect for her grows, since Druma's reaction shows how admirably she treated her Spirits. Clayton is waiting and thinking. 3 days passed, no news, and he lost Centina, Willy and Edithe, in addition to Salvos. I hope he doesn't do anything rash ahead of time and get himself killed, because he still has trauma from losing Salvos. He will be in a very bad place mentally and might actually get himself killed. Fortunately, he's a pretty rational person and will likely wait until the shield drops, but this is pretty much a deadline for Salvos because at that point she starts losing friends. I wonder whom the Spirit Lord lost to become so bitter. My guess is, he was like Salvos, had lots of mortal friends in his youth, and then they all grew old and died, and he never got over it. Archangel is a huge mystery and I want to know what drives him. Also, I'd like to be a fly on the wall when Belphegor asks Samuel about Salvos - where did he find such an admirable person, what's the story? And then Samuel feels guilty and uncomfortable, because he has to admit he's been treating her like an amusement, rather than a person, and realises how much he owes her and feels he needs to make it up to her. Also, Samuel would want to know what happened down there with the two of them, because there's obviously a story. Regnorex is in a strange position right now. Salvos is obviously after him, but she also seems to be removing all the people who were after his head and just waited until they levelled enough. Will he mockingly thank her for getting rid of all his enemies? That would be interesting. What does Matriarch Centinel actually know, and how much will she tell Rachel? How will Sally react when she finds out who Sal actually is, because she doesn't know. Will Rachel advance to level 100 before she meets Salvos again? What will happen between Salvos and Sally when they reconnect? Will they reconnect at all, or is the separation permanent? Will their memories blend, advancing the skill and giving Salvos all the experience Sally gained by functioning independently, or will this develop in a wholly unexpected way? Did Orgaf, Helena and their team meet the Beastmen who know Salvos and talk to them? Did they see the totem raised in her honour, and think about what it means - here's yet another people Salvos saved from some calamity, and everybody holds her in incredibly high regard, and they all know she's a demon. What does it say about humans? Where's the monument humans raised in her honour after she saved them? Will they feel ashamed of themselves? Especially Helena. Orgaf would feel proud of his girl.

Man, I can't wait for the next chapters!!! This should be an epic fight! It's so close, I can almost taste it! I can't wait for Salvos to unveil her [Corrupted Draconic Fury]! Will it work with [Divine Radiant Slash] like its predecessor? Also: [Corrupted Regeneration]! That's auch a massive uncertainty! I can't wait to see it!

[Prodiginous Devil] - You are a creature embodying the demonic way of life like few others. Through countless battles against impossible odds, you have reached the pinacle within one cycle, a feat few can even fathom. Your recklessness should have seen you dead long ago, but your cunning has let you survive even more than your power. - Those above your level seek to test your wits and prowess - You are fast to grasp your opponent's capabilities. Focusing on one aspect allows you to quickly learn an appropriate skill after short observation or improve one you already have - Wild demons are easier to influence - This title does not replace your current title(s)

Dragonmaster_42

I'm thinking about something... this is still her first cycle, yes? At least until the new advent/genesys, or whatever it's called when the demon larvae hatch from the pools of blood. So, what happens if she manages to reach the Primordial evolution before that? Does she get some kind of an achievement/title/bonus for probably breaking the all-time record in speed of evolution for any being in the history of Nexeus? Because reaching Primordial within one cycle sounds like a milestone.

We discussed cooldowns some time ago already, but your comments sparked a few new considerations in me regarding what determines the cooldown. 1) I agree that the abundance of divine essence (or mana for other GSs) likely plays into it. 2) Skill levels 3) Titles 4) Maybe time acceleration/deceleration? 5) Maybe the ambient energy density? Being in the Netherworld might just make GSs recover faster. 6) Killing things. Maybe killing things shortens the cooldown. This might be the same or different as point 5 7) Not only evolution, but also leveling might speed up cooldown, though to a lesser degree. After all, all these things change the energy flow through the body, I think. 8) There might be special skills that speed up cooldowns, like an evolution of [Rest] or a sort of meditation skill. [Rest] itself might already have that effect. What do you think?

Dragonmaster_42

Was it the same bonus before her evolution? The most likely opportunity to power up her divine essence GS would be her next evolution, wouldn't it?

Dragonmaster_42

It's definitely an exciting opener! But sadly the damage it causes will be negligeble. A mountain isn't that tough after all. ...to creatures of that level at least.

"To that end, I am expecting this former demon king to be a major threat. After all, this guy is the first enemy to posess a divine essence and he was a primordial before the, uh, downgrade. He better not be a pushover. And if not him then the next one in line, the Deathsquad Hunter guy." - well, realistically, if she is to barely defeat Regnorex later on, she needs to be able to barely defeat this guy now, then level, then barely defeat Manos and the rest of them. :) "It would be hilarious and a grand turn of events if she actually manages to befriend the Centinel Matriarch. " - that might be a stretch, but I'd like to see them actually have a conversation. :) There are many things humans could learn from someone who met the Devil in his youth. For instance, she knows he's the old King of Netherworld, and she knows Salvos is his only daughter. The humans have no idea, not even her companions, and actually not even Sally. That conversation might be something. But the Matriarch might be stuck in her loop of hate-kill-suffer-feel sorry for herself, to ever consider another option, such as, for instance, "have a sandwich". :)

And with this, I finally arrived at the newest chapter after devoring all of Salvos in the span of less than a month. What a ride. What an experience. Salvos is truly special to me will remain dear to my heart for as long as I live. With that said, I am curious to see where this goes. The threats seem to pile on faster than Salvos can handle and will soon overwhelm her and her friends - which is a good thing from a narrative standpoint. To that end, I am expecting this former demon king to be a major threat. After all, this guy is the first enemy to posess a divine essence and he was a primordial before the, uh, downgrade. He better not be a pushover. And if not him then the next one in line, the Deathsquad Hunter guy. However, what I am really looking forward to right now is seeing more of Rachel. It would be hilarious and a grand turn of events if she actually manages to befriend the Centinel Matriarch.

Salvos Enjoyer

This is so funny, because Haec and the others managed to scare Salvos into overpreparing for this fight so much, I don't even know when she did so much preparatory work - definitely Belzu, but she usually just wings it. The image of Salvos cramming for the exam and then just grabbing the guy by the face and slamming him through the mountain the way Samuel slammed Trico has me giggling. :)

Also, regarding her Divinity GS, the cooldown time reduction is interesting. Initially, it was a month when she was lvl 130, reduced to 3 weeks with the title bonus. However the time went down quite rapidly as she learned to use her Divinity through her class, and learned Divine versions of her skills, and she already had it back for Ira after the siege of Alyras. Then the cooldown apparently reset due to her evolution/apotheosis, and she already had it back for the main fight, which was a week later? And then she got the 50% bonus with the corrupted title. Now the cooldown seems to be around 3 days without the bonus. It seems that the cooldown is converging to zero as her levels and Divine abilities grow. Also, this GS seemingly can't be levelled, but what if it can? Already the bonus of 100 points to everything doesn't seem all that much compared to what it was when she was lvl 130, percentage-wise. It would be so great if that kind of doubled or something.

Danijel Turina

We don't actually know the cooldown times for her grand skills, and that's going to be crucial later on - she lost the title bonus of 50% reduction on cooldown times on all her GSs, and after this fight, if all goes well, she will have to face Regnorex and what's left of his forces, and she'll absolutely need the buffs from her [Divine Essence of...]. So, let's do the math. She triggered off [Divine Essence of...], [My Flames...] and [The Claw of Corruption] when she was cosplaying as Ancient Centinel. [Divine Essence of...] fizzled out during her flight towards the Expanse with the Death Eaters, and that one is supposed to last a day. Very quickly thereafter, minutes or hours, her fight with Hartia started. The fight lasted an unknown time, but let's say less than an hour. Then "day, day and a half" since the fight she's preparing for Jofis. She's delaying him for hours, let's say half a day at the upper limit. Let's add this up. One day of [Divine Essence of...], then hours of travel to the Expanse, fight with Hartia, then day and a half, then half a day. This puts it at the lower limit of 3 days, upper limit of 4. After that, she has [Divine Essence of...] back, and we don't know how long it would take for [The Claw of Corruption] without the class upgrade, but let's assume it would be about the same time. So, that would mean that the cooldown of those GSs would be around four days since they were first triggered? And is that with the 50% bonus included, since she had it for half of that period? Worst case, eight days, but that doesn't sound right. What sounds right is that she got the [Divine Essence of...] back two days after it expired, and the cooldown time seems to reduce as she gets stronger in Divinity. So, without the bonus, but with more experience and practice... she can basically expect to be able to fight Regnorex 2-3 days after pulverizing his main goons?

Danijel Turina

Regnorex, being a ruthless tyrant, kills countless of innocents and enslaves demonkind with his iron fist. This guy: "The main problem is that this Regnorex guy is too soft. If I were in his place, there would finally be order." :)

Danijel Turina

There is one volume of manga colored. Hope there will be more

Użytkownik Przeciętny

What are the odds that his face is the exact shape of Regnorex's boot? :)

Danijel Turina

That crunch felt so satisfying. :)

Thanks a lot for the chapter! I'm extremely excited and hope to see the actual fight soon! A while ago, you made the impression that you had a hard time writing Salvos herself. Maybe "borrowing" the outline of a fight you really liked in another series might be a basis? I don't have much experience myself, so all I can suggest would be things I heard in writing advice videos, like planning the structure beforehand and things of that nature that I'm sure you already considered when creating your current approach. In short: I'm super excited and I hope that reaches you, Melas! If it's tough, it might help to change your point of view and/or your approach, but you're the one with the track record of a lot of excellent Salvos chapters, so I'm sure you know best yourself!

Dragonmaster_42

Grand Skill not bolded! What has this world come to?! Great chapter though!

WingedIkaros

Can she fire up [The Claw of Corruption] multiple times in a sequence before it goes on cooldown? It's anyone's guess since it's lvl 2 now. Unfortunately she's not lvl 170 yet so no GS point. Might get there quickly since she's fighting her strongest opponent yet. This is as bad as lvl 181 [Cerberus/Levithus], the [Ancient Centinel], but not as bad as the [Lich lvl 145]. Zacharius was probably the hardest thing she fought, relative to her strength, because she was lvl 105 or something then, so 40 levels difference. Levithus was 20-30 levels difference, *and* she had grand skills, and help.

Danijel Turina

Yeah since Jofis has also divine Skills, he may have also the a divine essence GS like salvos

Tim

I can just see it now, she defeats him then the other legion commanders show up as well as the executioner and she says “ah come on give me a break”

Zuuuuuri

Both

Zuuuuuri

If I was a bettin’ man I’d guess 5, also very true

Zuuuuuri

It would be costly but I would love to see this series get an illustrator for more than the book cover

Travis Brown

Too many threats are coming I wonder what would be needed to win, I know corruption is gonna be useful, I forgot but does can salvos manipulate corruption or wild demons now

Travis Brown

Let me guess: she set Hartia free, and he went around de-collaring everybody, she set an ambush for Jofis, and if things get hard she'll "phone" Haec via her nearby clone, and he'll borrow strength from the legions and the clone will teleport him to the fight? And the fact that her [Divine Essence of...] GS puts her stats above Jofis to the point where she can outright kick his arse is very encouraging. I was afraid she'd still be weaker, but closer. The bastard can regenerate. This is going to be like the Ira fight-hard and nasty. And since he's not a Primordial at 196, it means lots of grand skills.

Danijel Turina

"He tossed it aside as he spun around and produced the Tablet of Tracking once again." - how many of those things does he carry? I mean, he did crush one. "I grinned at Jofis as he stared at me in confusion, taken aback by my sudden surge in both strength and durability. " - he's so incredibly fucked.
