The boss killed him. Baekjin couldve have died from the fight because some time has passed, remember si-eun said “ and then we became seniors” so i definitely believe the boss took him out

He said in the last episode, I think, if Baekjin disappointed him again, he'd kill him, so losing that fight........yeah, that's unfortunate considering he was just a kid and we saw through his tough exterior from the get go when he was studying. He felt like the Union was his only option; his big fancy house, Baku, was awed by in the flashback, was so big because it was a church/orphanage. Baekjin doesn't have family, so we can only assume the Union was that for him. He was a good kid dealt a bad hand and didn't deserve to die. There was a lot of potential after the fight for him to change his ways, but with a boss like his, we knew he wouldn't get that chance. Also, in the fight at the end, they were saying a lot without using words. I think Baekjin is to Baku as Beomseok is to Sieun. A friend that Baku helped, and due to Baekjin's trust issues and trauma and whatnot, he just didn't know how to receive/deal with it. He will always consider Baku his best friend, and all Baekjin wanted was to have his friend again. That's why he was so adamant on Baku joining the Union. In Baekjin's mind, if he and Baku were both in the Union, spending all their time together, they could be friends again. However, he went about it so wrong. I love this season more than the first, though it's a very small gap. Watching this season felt better; I don't know how to explain. At this point, I've watched Season 1 maybe 8-10 times, and Season 2 I've watched 5 times now, and it was paced well considering how short the show is. I think storyline-wise, season 2 felt more realistic to me. Overall, 10/10 show and can't wait for season 3!
